Free on-air publicity for local events
Sierra Madre’s EMERGENCY radio station is now accepting scripts
for Public Service Announcements (PSAs) about community events.
PSAs will be broadcast on the air at no charge. The station operates
24/7 and can be heard at 1630 on the AM dial.
Any local non-profit or non-commercial organization can have
their event information broadcast to the public on Sierra Madre
Community Information Radio. The station covers the city of Sierra
Madre, plus surrounding areas of Pasadena, Arcadia, and Monrovia.
Your event must:
• Benefit a non-commercial or non-profit entity
• Be open to the public
• Be of general interest to local citizens
Just
write a Public Service Announcement that describes your event
and e-mail it to radio@cityofsierramadre.com.

SIERRA MADRE LIBRARY EVENTS
THIRD THURSDAY BOOK CLUB
Read, discuss and enjoy, The Invention of Wings, by Sue Monk Kidd, on
Thursday, September 17, 11:00 am.
TEEN BOOK CLUB
Grades 7-12 are invited to join the Teen Book Club Wednesday
afternoons from 4:00-5:00 pm, starting September 16. Book Club enjoys
free books, snacks, and games while meeting other students, sharing
ideas, and making friends.
BARKS AND BOOKS
Children are invited to read to gentle Apple the Chihuahua on September
10 from 3:30-4:30 pm.
PRESCHOOL STORYTIME
Join children, parents, and caregivers for stories, songs, puppets, and
crafts on Mondays at 10:00 am and Wednesdays at 7:00 pm.
BABY RHYME TIME
Designed just for babies and their caregiver, this fun program introduces
children to songs and stories. Join us Tuesdays at 10:00 am.
LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEE SPECIAL MEETING
The next meeting of the Library Board of Trustees will be on Thursday,
September 10 at 7:00 pm in the Council Chambers, City Hall.
LIBRARY SERVICES PROPOSAL COMMITTEE
The City Council created a committee to explore contracting out library
services in light of the decrease in revenue due to the sun-setting of
the UUT. The next meeting is September 15 at 6:30 pm in the Council
Chambers.
NEW LIBRARY CATALOG AND LIBRARY OPERATING SYSTEM
The Library launched a new catalog on August 18. Among new features
are easier searching and access to e-books, ability to renew DVDs,
notices by text or email, and soon to come, payment by credit card.
