THE JOY OF YOGA
PERSPECTIVE
We want answers
and we want them
now! Isn’t it so
true? In the course
of making choices
and decisions, we
never fully know what the results will be. Even if its
something as simple as what to have for lunch, we
weigh the pros and cons and then proceed using our
best understanding of the situation at hand. With
choices that carry more weight, we often wish we had
a clear vision of the future especially when it comes to
relationships and financial matters. We always find
that coveted clear understanding in hindsight--after
the fact. This is where the expression comes in...”it’s
the journey not the destination”.
You’ll often hear this in a yoga class when a
challenging pose comes up. “It’s not the pose, it’s the
journey we take to find the pose.” All of the steps
getting to the full expression and most importantly,
what we learn about ourselves along the way is what
the journey is about. This brings context to practicing
a crazy arm balance or attempting to put your leg
behind our head. It’s all the awareness, patience,
compassion and curiosity that transpires while we
prepare, attempt and breathe.
We also do not know why the lesson is important
until we’ve learned it. It’s only in hindsight, we can
look back and say, “wow that sure took longer than I
expected, now I see all the parts that were necessary”.
We can apply this same experience on the mat into
many circumstances and situations in daily life. We
can lean into our experiences and not worry so much
why things are happening or not happening. There is
great joy in approaching each day with the attitude,
what can I learn from this? What do I know now that
I did not before?
Namaste and see you on the mat,

5 HERBS FOR BETTER DIGESTION
Many people suffer in silence from digestive issues because they
find the symptoms hard to discuss. Yet digestion issues may well be
the most common issue facing Americans on a daily basis. Besides
making lifestyle changes like eating more fiber and eating dinner at
least 2 . to 3 hours before bedtime, there are herbs that you can use to
flavor your food that can also aid in digestion. Most people know that
peppermint calms an upset stomach but did you know these herbs
were also good for digestion:
• Oregano: Oregano is a highly alkaline herb, so it fights acidity
and thus lowers inflammation. It also stimulates the digestive system
which helps prevent constipation.
• Rosemary: It is a great remedy for indigestion, bloating, gas
pain and constipation. It has antifungal properties so it can help
prevent an overgrowth of yeast in the digestive tract.
• Sage: Sage is a calming, soothing herb. It can help keep
the digestive system running smoothly. It helps the stomach digest
protein, and also helps to eliminate gas.
• Thyme: Thyme is another soothing herb which makes it great
for dealing with an upset stomach. Thyme is also antiviral which can help your system to ward
off digestive system viruses.
• Lavender: Not only does lavender smell great but it is also known as one of the best
calming herbs. When we become stressed and anxious our digestion slows which can cause
many issues. Lavender used to flavor foods can calm our digestive tract. It is also an alkaline
food, so it aids in
reducing acidity and
inflammation.
Herbs and spices
were widely used
by our ancestors for
increased health and
well-being. If you
are looking to find a
healthier way of living
try, using more herbs
as part of your meals.
They provide many
other benefits besides
aiding in digestion.
Be creative, you never
know what you might
come up with!

WEARABLE
TECHNOLOGY:
WHAT DOES IT MEAN
FOR YOU?
Recent headlines have been replete with data
breach stories in the last few years. The number
of companies and government agencies that have
had their systems hacked is staggering. Names,
addresses, Social Security numbers, credit card
numbers, and other personal information have
all been stolen by hackers from companies like
Target, J.P. Morgan, Home Depot, and Sony, not
to mention government agencies like the Internal
Revenue Service and the United States Army.
What many people do not know is that they may
be providing sensitive personal information to
data miners on a regular basis through wearable
technology. There is currently an explosion of
activity in the development and marketing of
electronic gadgets that people can wear to provide
information on the go or to keep track of things.
Activity trackers are a popular item for the
fitness conscious. The Apple Watch and other
brands of smart watches are gaining popularity.
Google briefly marketed a test version of “Google
Glass,” Internet-capable eyeglasses with display
technology, but it has since discontinued
production. Other companies are still selling
similar devices.
Many people buy and use these devices because
of what they can do: measure heart rate or calories,
provide reminders throughout the day, or provide
progress reports on goals. What they may not
realize, however, is what these devices can do
without their knowledge.
Wearable technology is embedded with
electronics, software, sensors, and Internet
connectivity; it can therefore transfer data
to others. A problem with that, according to
Symantec Corporation, a major technology
security company, is that one in five wearable
devices moves data without encryption. That
makes it easy for hackers, or even legitimate
data-gathering businesses, to obtain information
provided to any particular application.
Security experts say that the lack of security
associated with many wearable devices puts people
at risk for dangers such as identity theft, profiling,
and home burglary or invasion. Most devices have
location-tracking capability and can therefore allow
the tracking of a person’s movements, enabling
someone to know or predict where that person
might be at any given time. Personal information
such as name, address, and Social Security number
can allow false bank transactions. Sleep tracking
devices can tell a hacker when a person is asleep or
awake in his or her home.
Technology and the free market moves so fast
that consumers cannot assume that security
and privacy are assured in the use of wearable
technology. If you decide to buy wearable
technology, find out whether the marketer has
an accompanying privacy policy. Learn about the
security of the device, especially about whether it
is Internet-capable and whether it encrypts data.
And be cognizant of the personal information that
you input when setting up the device.

Whether you are just looking to improve and protect your health,or you have a serious condition
that threatens your ability tolive and function, there is a foundation that must be in place
tosupport living well or recovering.
The foundation of health is based on four main areas being maintained.
1. Regular exercise and movement including stretching.
2. Proper nutrition to fuel your body.
3. Proper and sufficient rest to help your body heal and regenerate.
4. A fully functional spine and nervous system to control and coordinate all of your
body’s functions.
Many people are looking for the ‘next best thing’ without addressing or fortifying the foundation.
Promises are made all the time that this lotion, notion, product or pill will take you to the promise
land of health.
Many people are suffering in many ways due to the fact that they have ignored taking care of
their foundation. It is estimated that 70% of the problems people go to the doctor for are related
to lifestyle therefore preventable because they have cracks in the foundation.
So what has happened is that their train has come off the tracks as they are trying to leave the
station on their journey. They are stuck.
The 28 day health transformation is simplistic in its design to get your train back on the tracks
so it can leave the station. It shores up your foundation on which all health and healing is based.
For 28 days, 4 weeks you are going to give your body a break and nourish it with activities to
address strengthening your foundation.
For exercise, it includes movement and mobility on a daily basis. Nutrition wise you stop putting
toxic stuff in your body and give your digestive track a break. When you exercise regularly and
eat healthy great sleep is a by-product as your body detoxifies and repairs itself. Posture awareness
and evaluation using chiropractic, massage, yoga, core training all help maintain the frame and
allows the nervous system to flow and function without interference.
The 28 day health transformation has been tested and since it is simple and you don’t have to buy
any pills or equipment the question is asked, “What makes this program so special?” The answer
is YOU!
You are the main factor of whether it works or not. You must change. You must get leverage on
yourself to get back on track and set a new direction for your life. You must walk, you must do
the stretching, you must make the choices and discipline yourself.
28 days is not a long time but can put you on course to build a foundation that you can then build
on to sustain and protect your health for a 100 years.
