experience Mozart like
never before in its upcoming
concert, Life of Mozart,
on Wednesday, May 20 at

7:30 p.m. at San MarinoCommunity Church. This
innovative performance
features an actor playingMozart, speaking Mozart’sown words, and bringing tolife the creation of his final
masterpiece, the Requiem.
Famously unfinished at thecomposer’s death, Mozart’sRequiem has moved andintrigued audiences for
225 years and stands asone of the most iconic and
enigmatic works in the
choral repertoire. The piecehas long been shrouded inmystery, with centuries ofspeculation surrounding thecircumstances of its creation.

In Life of Mozart, thePasadena Choral Societypresents a strikingly originalinterpretation: the Requiemis performed exclusively inthe form Mozart himself
completed, allowingaudiences to hear the work
as he left it. Interwoven
throughout the performanceis a dramatic narrative,
brought to life by musicianand actor Milo Brody

Statement from Pasadena

Heritage on the Potential

Closure of PUSD Campuses

For nearly 50 years, Pasadena Heritage’s principal purpose hasbeen to preserve and protect Pasadena’s historic and culturalresources. Therefore, we have watched with concern the ongoingdiscussions by the Pasadena Unified School District concerning thepotential closure or consolidation of District campuses.

Recognizing the significant, long-term attendance, fiscal and
staffing challenges faced by the District, we acknowledge thecomplexity and difficulty of the decisions that the District may beasked to consider.
As the District explores these choices, Pasadena Heritage asks that
you:

Acknowledge and embrace the significant architectural, historicaland cultural value attached to many Pasadena Unified SchoolDistrict campuses. Many Pasadena campuses were designed byarchitects among the most notable practitioners of their generation,
with distinctive character and significant historical associations.

Explore the potential for protection, preservation and adaptivereuse of its physical campuses, an increasingly popular alternativeto the loss of significant historic fabric. Adaptive reuse offerssignificant benefits over demolition with respect to climate goals,
forming an important element of placemaking.

Ensure that schools remain available to serve all geographic areas,
income levels, and communities that make up Pasadena. Ourmembers have reached out to us concerning specific campusesbecause of a fear that the multiple schools that once populatedtheir neighborhoods may now be shuttered, leaving portions ofthis community without sufficient public neighborhood schools.
These campuses are more than educational centers, as they arecommunal gathering places, sources of information and recreation,
and character-defining elements of the neighborhoods they serve.

As the Pasadena Unified School District faces these challenges,
we offer the contribution of professionals with deep knowledge ofarchitecture, construction, preservation, planning and adaptivereuse. We invite you to contact us at any time so that we may assistyou in exploring your options for these important components ofPasadena’s community identity.

(pictured), who will portrayMozart. Through excerpts ofthe composer’s own letters,
Brody gives voice to Mozart’sthoughts, struggles, humor,
and humanity, which createsan intimate and immersive
experience that transcendsthe traditional concert
format.

This unique productionmarks a special homecomingfor Milo Brody, who is aPasadena native and alumnus
of the Pasadena Chorale’s
acclaimed “Listening to theFuture” young composer
program.

By combining theatricalstorytelling with one of
the most profound choralworks, Life of Mozart offersaudiences not only a concert,
but a moving exploration ofartistic legacy, mortality, andthe enduring voice of one ofhistory’s greatest composers.

Admission is free and opento the public. Tickets can bereserved at pasadenachorale.
