SUMMER OCUPATIONAL THERAPY IMMERSION
PROGRAM TO VISIT KENSINGTON SENIOR
LIVING IN SIERRA MADRE

42 Students from 17 countries and 3 Instructors to visit

On July 16, 2026, the USC Summer Occupational Therapy Immersion (SOTI) program will
visit The Kensington Senior Living facility in Sierra Madre to learn about innovative models
of care for older adults.

SOTI is an annual summer course hosted by the Office of Global Initiatives at the USC Chan
Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, and each year approximately40 occupational therapy (OT) students and practitioners from around the world come to
Los Angeles to learn about OT practice, education, and research both in the United States
and globally. (http://chan.usc.edu/soti)

In 2026, SOTI expects to enroll participants from 18 countries on 5 continents to create an
authentic global community of learners. At The Kensington, SOTI participants will have
the opportunity to spend time within the Assisted Living and Memory Care communities,
as well as learn how occupational therapy rehabilitation is integrated into holistic care for
residents.

They will also share care practices for seniors in their own countries and cultures, with the
hope for mutual learning. The SOTI program is grateful for this opportunity to visit The
Kensington in July, which will mark the 3rd consecutive year for this collaboration.

ADDITIONAL CALTRANS PROPERTIES COMING
BACK ON THE MARKET IN SOUTH PASADENA
WITH THE DAVE KNIGHT REAL ESTATE TEAM

SOUTH PASADENA, CA (June 4, 2026) – San Gabriel Valley Real Estate Broker DaveKnight, of the Dave Knight Real Estate Team of Keller Williams (DKRE), announced they areexclusively listing eight former Caltrans properties on behalf of the City of South Pasadena.
These residential properties, including the historic Columbia House, were acquired byCaltrans through eminent domain to build the now-defunct 710 Freeway extension throughthe city. Now, these homes will be returned to the residential real estate market for new
owners to enjoy.

“We recognize how challenging it is today to acquire residential real estate in SouthPasadena, which is known as one of the friendliest and safest cities in Southern California.
These eight homes will give more people a chance to experience what many of the residentshere know and love about South Pasadena,” says Knight. “For historic preservationists, weare providing a rare opportunity to own an excellent example of a Craftsman style homebuilt in 1910 by the architect George Lawrence Stimson.” This gracious and stately home,
known as the Columbia House, sits on the corner of Columbia Street and Fremont Avenue.

In an effort to expand the buyer pool and encourage owner-occupied buyers, DKRE hassought out lenders to assist buyers with financing plans specifically for the purchase of theseCaltrans properties.

“This marks a significant milestone for the City of South Pasadena as these properties arereturned to the residential market, creating opportunities for homeownership for bothlongtime community members and those looking to make South Pasadena their home,” saidTodd Hileman, South Pasadena City Manager. “We also appreciate the Dave Knight teamfor creating unique lending opportunities that help make homeownership more accessibleto buyers.”
