Free on-air publicity for local events

Sierra Madre’s new community radio station is now accepting scripts
for Public Service Announcements (PSAs) about community events.
PSAs will be broadcast on the air at no charge. The station operates
24/7 and can be heard at 1630 on the AM dial.

Any local non-profit or non-commercial organization can have
their event information broadcast to the public on Sierra Madre
Community Information Radio. This new radio station covers the city
of Sierra Madre, plus surrounding areas of Pasadena, Arcadia, and
Monrovia.

In a nutshell, your event must:

• Benefit a non-commercial or non-profit entity

• Be open to the public

• Be of general interest to local citizens

Just
write a Public Service Announcement that describes your
event and e-mail it to radio@cityofsierramadre.com.

Kiwanis Club Presents.....

REDISTRICTING: WHY,
HOW, WHAT AND NEXT STEPS

Redistricting has become a hot button topic as implications
of the proposed changes emerge due to population and
ethnic shifts. Dramatic changes in political districts have
been adopted at the state level, with redistricting also
underway for all other jurisdictions that elect representatives
from districts.

On Tuesday, October 11, 2011, Marge Nichols from the
League of Women Voters will present a program that
discusses what’s happened to date in redrawing voting
districts at the city, county and state level—and what could
be the outcome of these decisions.
