THE REEL DEAL: by Ben Show

THE BOXTAILS REVIEW

Modern children’s movies, for the most part, fall into two
categories: the ones that a solely for children and that the adults
despise, and those that can entertain both children and adults
through clever, witty jokes. ‘The Boxtrolls’ is certainly the latter, yet
has a darker, stranger side that ‘Coraline’ had.

When a young boy (Isaac Hempstead Wright) is kidnapped by
the mysterious Boxtrolls, they immediately become the bane of
the town of Chessebridge. While hunted like vermin, they raise
the child. But, when Archibald Snatcher (Ben Kingsley), the town’s
head exterminator, makes a final attempt to kill of the Boxtrolls,
they must decide whether to hide or fight.

‘The Boxtrolls’ is the perfect movie for the 21st century. Its visual
will hook you and its charm will make you fall in love with the
world and the characters that inhabit it. Couple that in with spot-
on political commentary, as well as a message of be yourself, no
matter what you look like or people think, and you have yourself a
perfect movie for anybody of any age.
