CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY UPDATE

Alert: Lane closures on Duarte Rd will begin Monday, 
December 1st. Traffic will be limited to one lane in each 
direction between California Ave and Myrtle Ave.

OFF-SITE WORK: (Streets Improvements, Medians, Under grounding of Utilities, Tree planting, and Freeway Underpass) 

WHEN: December 1, 2014 to December 5, 2014

WHERE: Myrtle Avenue (between Duarte Road and Evergreen Avenue), California Avenue (between Duarte Road 
and Evergreen Avenue), Duarte Ave (between California Ave and Magnolia Ave), Pomona Ave (between

 Myrtle Ave and Magnolia Ave), Magnolia Ave (between Evergreen Ave and railroad crossing), Primrose Ave

 (south of Evergreen Ave) WHAT: Work is progressing on Pomona, Primrose, and Magnolia. Demolition work 

 on Duarte and Myrtle is expected to begin next week. Traffic lanes will be impacted, but all lanes will remain

 open. Street parking will not be available. Expect delays and use alternate routes when possible. Please observe

 street delineations and traffic signs for your safety. Please note that no work will be performed on November 27

 and 28 due to the holidays.

 ON-SITE WORK: (Station Square Neighborhood Park, Depot Promenade and Transit Plaza) 

WHEN: Monday, December 1, 2014 to December 5, 2014

WHERE: Monrovia Park & Ride Lot: 1601 S Myrtle Ave

WHAT: The contractor will begin demolition and construction of underground utilities this week. There are 5 ADA

 Accessible Parking Spaces and 18 regular parking spaces available to the public in the Park and Ride lot. In

 addition, there are alternate parking spaces available at 123 W. Pomona Avenue, Monrovia - northwest of the 

 Park and Ride lot (see aerial map below). Signs showing the direction of the alternate parking are posted on site. 

 Overnight parking is not allowed on both parking areas. Please note that no work will be performed on November 

 27 and 28 due to the holidays

TZEITEL PARAS-CARACCI 
ELECTED MAYOR OF DUARTE; 
SAM KANG ELECTED 

MAYOR PRO TEM IN ANNUAL 
DUARTE CITY COUNCIL 
REORGANIZATION

DUARTE, CA, November 26, 2014 Ð Duarte City Council 
members voted unanimously to elect Tzeitel Paras-Caracci, Mayor 
for 2014-2015 and Sam Kang, Mayor Pro Tem during the annual 
reorganization of the Duarte City Council at the November 25, 
2015 meeting.

 Mayor Paras-Caracci was first elected to the City Council in 
2001. She has previously served as Mayor in both 2005 and 2010. 
She is also a current Board Member for both Foothill Transit 
and the Gold Line Construction Authority, and has served in the 
past as president of APAMO (Asian Pacific American Municipal 
Officials) and a board member for both the National League of 
Cities and League of California Cities.

 The newest member of the City Council, Samuel Kang, 
a healthcare, IT project manager and a former Economic 
Development Commissioner was voted unanimously to serve 
as Mayor Pro-Tem. In addition to his duties on the Council, 
Kang serves as the official Council representative to the Duarte 
Community Services Council, the Foothill Employment 
and Training Consortium, the San Gabriel Valley Economic 
Partnership, and is also a member of the League of California 
Cities Asian Pacific Islander Caucus.
