ARCADIA POLICE BLOTTER

ARCADIA POLICE OFFICERS ARREST THREE MALE ADULTS
FOR SUSPICION OF ATTEMPTED RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

For the period of Sunday, March 8th, through Saturday, March 14th, the Police
Department responded to 1,048 calls for service of which 128 required formal
investigations. The following is a summary report of the major incidents
handled by the Department during this period.

Sunday, March 8:

1. Just before 12:52 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the
area of Colorado Place and Gate 5 of the Santa Anita Race Track for having
expired registration. Upon contacting the driver, the officer discovered the
33-year-old black female had never been issued a driver’s license. She was
cited and released in the field. Her vehicle was left legally parked.

 1. At approximately 4:44 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in
the 1300 block of North Baldwin Avenue regarding a burglary report. The
victim stated he was lured to his backyard by Suspect #1 who offered to show
the victim the quality of his work he performed on a neighbor’s wall behind
the victim’s house. While the victim and Suspect #1 were in the backyard,
Suspect #2 entered the victim’s home, ransacked the residence, and stole
three designer watches. Suspect #1 asked the victim to wait in the backyard
while he, Suspect #1, drove to the other side of the wall to retrieve some tools
he had left there. The victim saw Suspect #1 flee in a newer model, white
Ford Mustang with paper plates. After a brief wait, the victim returned to
his home and noticed the items missing. The victim never saw Suspect #2.

Suspect #1 is described as a Hispanic male in his late twenties,
approximately 5’10”, 200 pounds, with short black hair and a tear drop
tattoo under each eye. Both suspects are outstanding as of the date of this
report and the investigation is ongoing.

Monday, March 9:

1. At about 10:12 a.m., an officer initiated consensual contact with a person
laying near the entrance of 7-Eleven, 200 East Live Oak Avenue, due to the
need for possible medical assistance. After contacting the subject, a records
check revealed the subject had an outstanding warrant. The officer arrested
the man and transported him to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. During
the booking process, the jailer discovered the subject had marijuana hidden
in his sock and the subject had given the officer his brother’s name and date
of birth. Fingerprint identification revealed the subject was a 35-year-old
Hispanic male with three outstanding misdemeanor warrants. The offenses
of Impersonating Another and to Bring Illegal Drugs Into A Jail were added
to the list of charges.

 1. At approximately 5:26 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in
the 1200 block of South Third Avenue regarding a report of mail theft that
occurred on Thursday, March 5th at 3:23 p.m. Surveillance footage revealed
a Hispanic female, approximately 30-years- old, with dyed red hair took
the victim’s mail from her mailbox and continued walking southbound
on Third Avenue. The suspect is outstanding at the time of this report. The
investigation is ongoing.

Tuesday, March 10:

 1. Around 11:08 a.m., officers responded to the area of 948 West
Huntington Drive regarding a vandalism in progress. The officers located a
vehicle with a driver fitting the description of the suspect in a nearby area.
An investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle, an 18-year- old Hispanic
male, was responsible for the vandalism and was also in possession of a large
quantity of prescription medication. He was arrested and transported to
the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The offense of Possession of Prescription
Medication For Sale was added to the list of charges.

 1. Just after 11:40 p.m., an officer responded to the area of 941 West
Huntington Drive regarding the sound of a possible traffic collision. The
officer located two damaged vehicles and a subject walking away from
collision. Upon contacting the individual, the officer detected a strong odor
of alcohol emitting from the 40-year-old Asian male’s breath. Through a
field sobriety test, the officer determined the subject was driving under the
influence of an alcoholic beverage during the time of the collision. He was
arrested and transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Wednesday, March 11:

 1. Shortly after 9:46 a.m., an officer responded to the 300 block of Warren
Way regarding a report of possible mail theft. The reporting party found
opened mail belonging to his neighbors in his mailbox. No suspect was seen
and no witnesses were located. The investigation is ongoing.

 1. At about 11:47 p.m., officers responded to 24-Hour Fitness, 125 North
First Avenue, regarding a theft report. The victim stated he secured his
backpack in a locker, and when he returned, found his property and lock
missing. The crime occurred between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. No suspects
were seen and no witnesses were located.

Thursday, March 12:

 1. At approximately 7:54 a.m., an officer responded to 825 Arcadia
Avenue regarding a commercial burglary report. An investigation revealed
sometime during the previous evening, unknown suspect(s) cut the lock
to the location, entered the main office, stole several sets of keys, accessed
additional containers, and stole miscellaneous property. No suspects were
seen and no witnesses were located.

 1. Around 6:47 p.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on a
vehicle in the area of North Santa Anita Avenue and East Huntington
Drive for talking on a cell phone while driving. The officer discovered the
driver, a 27-year-old Hispanic female, was driving with a suspended license.
A consensual search of the vehicle revealed two methamphetamine pipes,
one belonging to the driver and the other belonging to the passenger.
The passenger, a 31-year-old Hispanic female, admitted to having a bag
of methamphetamine in her pant pocket. The officer also located a bag of
methamphetamine in the driver’s purse. Both females were arrested and
transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Friday, March 13:

 1. Just after 12:14 p.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia Association
of Realtors, 601 South First Avenue, regarding a vehicle burglary report.
Surveillance footage revealed an unknown Hispanic male broke the front
passenger window of the vehicle and was seen searching through the vehicle
before fleeing on foot. The male suspect was seen talking to a Hispanic
female suspect in a van at the time of the crime. No loss was reported. The
investigation is ongoing.

 1. At about 4:05 p.m., an officer responded to Arcadia Congregational
Church, 2607 South Santa Anita Avenue, regarding a nude man in front of
the location. The officer located a 55-year-old white male sitting naked in
front of the location with a methamphetamine pipe and nude photographs
scattered around him. He was arrested and transported to the Arcadia City
Jail for booking.

Saturday, March 14:

 1. Just after 8:38 a.m., an officer responded to the 200 block of West Live
Oak Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary report. The officer determined
an unknown suspect entered the vehicle by unknown means, ransacked
the vehicle, and fled without stealing any property. The crime occurred
sometime during the previous evening. The officer did not locate any
witnesses or surveillance cameras nearby.

 1. At approximately 10:16 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of
West Duarte Road regarding a theft that just occurred. An investigation
revealed an unknown suspect cut the cable lock and stole a tennis ball cart.
A witness described the suspect as a Hispanic male, 20 to 30-years-old,
approximately 5’8” tall, with a shaved head. An area check did not locate the
suspect. The investigation is ongoing.

At approximately 12:37 PM, a resident observed two suspicious
men knocking on the front door of a residence in the 2000 Block of
South Santa Anita Ave. The two men were seen entering the rear
yard of the residence and a short time later, one of them exited the
rear yard. That man got into a car which was parked to the front of
the residence.

The resident who observed this called APD to report the suspicious
activity. Within a few minutes, APD Officers arrived and detained
two occupants in the vehicle. A third man was detained in the 00
Block of Las Flores, directly behind the house on Santa Anita Ave.

The initial investigation uncovered information linking the three
men to a crime at the South Santa Anita Ave location. All three men
were arrested and charged with Attempted Residential Burglary.

The three men arrested were identified as:

Maurice Lovell McKnight, a 30 year old resident of LA

Bryan Marcell Riley, a 35 year old resident of Los Angeles

Ramar Kyle Jenkins, a 31 year old resident of Pasadena

All three are being held on $50,000 bail at the Arcadia City Jail.
