ST. RITA
SCHOOL:
SPIRIT OF
GIVING

Sierra Madre, CA – Students at St.
Rita School recently demonstrated
their spirit of giving with a
Peanut Butter and Jelly drive
for the St. Francis Center of Los
Angeles. The St. Francis Center
provides relief and support to
homeless and extremely low-
income individuals and families
in Los Angeles. Throughout the
Lenten season the students of St.
Rita were asked to remember it is
not what you give up that’s most
important, but what you can do
for others.

 As the students, families, and
staff of St. Rita were preparing
for spring break it was shared
that many underprivileged
children would not be able to
have two meals a day provided
by their own school district due
to spring break. In an effort to
stock the pantry of the St. Francis
Center, and provide nutrition
to these students many families
participated in the drive.

It was very exciting to see our
children recognizing their own
blessings, and taking action to
help others. St. Rita was able to
donate 290 jars of peanut butter
and jelly to the St. Francis Center.
This was such a success that the
school plans to have additional
drives next school year.

 St. Rita is a top-ranked
Catholic parish school, located
at 322 N. Baldwin Ave. in
Sierra Madre, which focuses
on faith, stewardship and
academic excellence. Visit
www.st-ritaschool.org for more
information.

THE REEL DEAL: by Ben Show

FURIOUS 7 REVIEW

Having not seen any of the previous ‘Fast and Furious’, I had no idea what
to expect from this movie. This franchise has a massive fan base, and I
had heard from many people that this was the best film yet, so I had high
hopes for it; however, I was worried that my lack of knowledge of the
franchise would not enable me to enjoy the film, and so I went into the
theater with high hopes but slightly doubtful.

Having taken down Owen Shaw (Luke Evans), Dom (Vin Diesel)
and his team have attracted the unwanted attention of Shaw’s older
brother, Deckard (Jason Statham). They have also got the attention of the
mysterious Mr. Nobody (Kurt Russell) who will give them the tools they
need if they get him the powerful hacker known as Ramsey (Nathalie
Emmanuel).

‘Furious 7’ is an exceptional action film simply because you do not
have to have seen any of the previous films to not only understand what is
going on but also feel for the characters. The story is very slick and well-
refined for an action film, with no extraneous action sequences and the
clunky, cliché dialogue cut back to a minimum. The standout of this film
is the cinematography, which is extremely revolutionary. The camera
angles and shots that are chosen make the film flow beautifully. ‘Furious
7’ is an exciting yet highly emotional film that works as a perfect action
movie as well as a stunning tribute to the work of Paul Walker, who shines
in his role.
