FOOTHILL MWD OPENS K-12 STUDENT ART CONTEST


Foothill Municipal Water District (Foothill MWD) 
is conducting its 6th annual K-12 student art contest 
with the theme of competition adhering to the phrase: 
“Water Is Life”. This is a fun, educational project that 
serves to inspire student creativity and the stewardship 
of our precious water resources.

 The contest is open to all K-12 students attending a 
school located within the Foothill MWD service area. 
This includes schools located within La Crescenta-
Montrose, the City of La Cañada Flintridge, and 
Altadena.

 All art entries for the 2017 “Water Is Life” Student 
Art Contest will be separated into three groups (Grades 
K-3, 4-6, and 7-12) prior to judging. The grand prize 
winning entry for each group will receive $100 for the 
student and a $50 gift card for the sponsoring teacher.

This event is co-sponsored by the Metropolitan 
Water District of Southern California (MWD) and 
all winning entries will be submitted to MWD for a 
second round of competition to be included in the 
2018 “Water Is Life” Student Artwork Calendar.

 Deadline for entries is Monday, April 3, 2017, 
including postmarked submissions. Late entries may 
be accepted at the discretion of Foothill MWD. For

 Foothill Municipal Water District provides 
imported water to Crescenta Valley Water District, 
La Cañada Irrigation District, Mesa Crest Water 
Company, Valley Water Company, Lincoln Avenue 
Water Company, Las Flores Water Company and 
Rubio Cañon Land & Water Association. Kinneloa 
Irrigation District, another retail agency, takes no 
water from Foothill.

BOSCO TECH HOSTED 45TH ANNUAL MATH COMPETITION 

FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS ON FEBRUARY 4

 ROSEMEAD, CA. – February 8, 2017 - Don Bosco Technical Institute 
(Bosco Tech) hosted its 45th Annual Mathematics Competition for fifth 
through eighth grade students on Saturday, February 4. The annual 
event offered awards to the highest scoring individuals and teams in 
large and small school divisions and Level I (grades 5-6) and Level II 
(grades 7-8). Approximately 300 students took part in this year’s event.

Participating schools included: Barnhart School, Beatitudes of Our Lord 
School, Bitely Elementary School, Christ Lutheran School, Epiphany 
School, Immaculate Conception, Jefferson Middle School, Los Angeles 
Leadership Academy, Macy Intermediate, Mesa Robles Middle School,

Collaborate Pasadena (CollPAS) 
is pleased to announce the 
hiring of Lisa Cavelier as its new 
Director. For the past two years 
the initiative has operated with 
a part-time leadership team and 
has now grown to the point of 
bringing on a full-time Director. 
Through an extensive search 
process, Lisa was selected to lead 
the initiative which is focused 
on increasing partnerships and 
collaboration that support the 
shared vision of helping kids to 
succeed in school and in life. 
Lisa’s expertise in Pasadena-
based community organizations, 
fundraising abilities and strong 
leadership skills made her the 
perfect candidate to significantly 
move Collaborate PASadena 
forward in 2017.

About Lisa Cavelier

 With a nonprofit management 
career spanning more than 25 
years, Lisa Cavelier brings an 
impressive history that includes 
stints as an assistant to the US 
Ambassador to France; Executive 
Director of the Nancy Reagan 
Foundation; Chief Operating 
Officer for the California Art 
Club; Vice President of Guest 
Services for the 2015 Special 
Olympics World Games Los 
Angeles and more. For ten years, 
Lisa was the President of Cavelier 
Productions, Inc., a consulting 
firm specializing in marketing, 
organizational development, 
public relations, and event 
management. 
During that time she managed 
numerous projects in and around 
Pasadena including with nonprofit 
organizations Day One, Pasadena 
Educational Foundation, Junior 
League of Pasadena, as well as 
the City of Pasadena and the 
Pasadena Unified School District. 
She has been an active volunteer 
in both Pasadena and South 
Pasadena, serving repeatedly as 
PTA President, and sitting on 
multiple boards and committees 
for more than 15 years.

 Lisa has been on the job since 
the beginning of January and 
offers this perspective, “With my 
love for this community and my 
strong support for Collaborate 
PASadena, I am excited to join this 
effort! I plan to build on the great 
work that has been done so far,
