1630 AM EMERGENCY RADIO & 

Free on-air publicity for local events

 Sierra Madre’s EMERGENCY radio station is now accepting scripts for 
Public Service Announcements (PSAs) about community events. PSAs 
will be broadcast on the air at no charge. The station operates 24/7 and 
can be heard at 1630 on the AM dial.

 Any local non-profit or non-commercial organization can have their 
event information broadcast to the public on Sierra Madre Community 
Information Radio. The station covers the city of Sierra Madre, plus 
surrounding areas of Pasadena, Arcadia, and Monrovia. 

Your event must:

• Benefit a non-commercial or non-profit entity
• Be open to the public
• Be of general interest to local citizens


Just 
write a Public Service Announcement that describes your event and 
e-mail it to radio@cityofsierramadre.com. 


SIERRA MADRE POLICE BLOTTER

During this time period, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded 
to approximately 2 88 day and night time calls for service. 

Tuesday, April 11 

A report of a suspicious person in the 400 block of Madre Lane and 
possible theft of package. The person reporting stated she saw a maroon 
Toyota van parked on the east side of the street. The witness stated that 
she saw a woman exit the van not carrying a package, walk up to the 
house and knock on the door. The woman was then seen walking away 
from the house carrying a package, then drive off west on Old Ranch 
Road. Pending more information from possible victim. 

Wednesday, April 12 

At about 7:42 a.m. officers were dispatched to the intersection of 
Grandview Ave. and Foothill Ave. regarding a traffic collision involving 
a deer. The driver was traveling east on Grandview Ave. when a deer 
jumped into the traffic lane and was struck by the vehicle causing damage 
to the windshield. Pasadena Humane was called to the scene. 

Thursday, April 13 

Officers conducted a traffic stop at about 11:55 a.m. on a motorcyclist for 
not wearing a helmet in the 3400 block of E. Foothill Bl. After a wants/
warrant check, it was determined that the rider had an outstanding 
warrant for his arrest from LAPD and was in possession of a reported 
lost/stolen credit card. The rider was transported to Pasadena Jail for 
booking. 

NOTE: Several citations were issued within this time period for 
unlicensed drivers and/or driving without a license, a few resulting 
in impounding of the driver’s vehicle. A reminder to be aware of the 
expiration date of your California driver’s license and vehicle registration 
tags.

4TH OF JULY GRAND MARSHAL 
NOMINATIONS

The Volunteer Sierra Madre 4th of July Committee is seeking 
nominations for the 2017 4th of July Parade Grand Marshal. The Parade 
will be held as always the morning of July 4th. 

 Parade Grand Marshal Nominees should embody the spirit of Sierra 
Madre, be an active volunteer in any of the local nonprofit organizations 
or in some way contributed to the betterment of Sierra Madre. Nominees 
may be an individual or volunteers or an organization. 

 Nominations must be submitted in writing by Thursday, 
April 27th and should be sent to the 4th of July Committee, 
PO Box 1073 Sierra Madre CA 91025 or emailed to 
4thofjulysierramadre@gmail.com. Nominations should be no more 
than 1 page but at least a paragraph explaining why the honor should be 
given including contributions to the Sierra Madre community.

Due to the popularity of the Emerging Women Exhibit, Creative 
Arts Group will extend our normal Saturday Gallery hours and 
remain open until 5pm on 4/1, 4/8, 4/15 and 4/22.

 ALSO: Q & A on Friday, April 7 from 7 - 9pm. Maurine St. 
Gaudens, Joseph Morsman and Maureen Siegel Sprowles will 
discuss the artists presented in Emerging from the Shadows and the 
influential role these adventurous women played in the development 
of the arts culture in California. The Q & A discussion is free and no 
registration is necessary.

 The exhibition will continue through April 26, 2017
