The meeting was intended to let all impacted residents know about details related to our construction plans (the North Section of the project includes the entire portion of the City located north of, and including, Hillcrest Boulevard). All told, we had over 70 residents in attendance at the meeting, which was a standing-room only event. Based on the questions and discussions that occurred throughout the night, it appeared that the residents that attended the meeting were pleased with the progress that the City has made to date on Monrovia Renewal, and the group emphasized their desire to be kept well informed about details related to the project as it all begins to unfold. Of note, we did share with the residents that our contractor for the North Section, Sully Miller Construction Company, is planning to mobilize the first week of February, and that tangible construction work will be noticeable by late February. A few pictures from the event are included below for your reference, and kudos to our Public Works team (in particular, Caroline Velarde, Alex Tachiki, Todd Hull, and Sean Sullivan) for the great job they did in facilitating the discussion. If you need any additional project specific details, feel free to contact the Public Works Division at (626) 932-5575. STORM DAMAGE CLEANED UP AT CANYON PARK AND HILLSIDE WILDERNESS PRESERVE We wanted to thank the community for your patience as Canyon Park and the Hillside Wilderness Preserve were closed this past week due to safety concerns following heavy rains. The weather caused significant damage to the trails in Canyon Park and in the Hillside Wilderness Preserve, as illustrated in the photos below. City staff and volunteers have been working overtime the past week to repair and clear the trails, and we are so happy to report that both facilities have now been re-opened for recreation and the public’s enjoyment. Many thanks to all the City staff who helped in facilitating the clean-up efforts, especially Eugene Suk and Marlene Yang!
