WALKING SIERRA MADRE by Deanne Davis

“A new book is like a friend I have yet to meet.”
Abraham Lincoln

“Choosing a new book is like looking for treasure.”
Kit Pearson

“Happiness is finding a new book by your favorite
author!”

Realizing that it is highly inappropriate to refer to
myself as your favorite author, dear friends and
neighbors, I’m going to go right ahead and be just
exactly that presumptuous. I am thrilled, excited,
delighted and just plain ecstatic to be able to
report to you that the book I have been working
on for what seems like an eternity is finished and
is now available on Amazon.com

If you can’t wait another minute to add it to your
personal library, go to DeanneDavis@Amazon.
com and there it will be, ready and waiting for you.
Amazon being the fastest service in the world,
you should have it within two or three days.

Sunrises and Sunflowers...Speak Hope, is the
result of dear friends and family telling me I
should ‘do something’ with the web log pieces
I’ve been writing, about family, friends, children,
raccoons, too many books, what to do with
a bread machine, and the passing of my best
friend and husband of fifty years, my beloved
John. Being a collector of sunrises and sunsets,
I find myself daily overwhelmed with gratitude
for God’s never-ending love, His Presence, His
comfort, and best of all, the Hope that comes with
the sunrise each day. And, as I’m fond of keeping
a bunch of sunflowers on the kitchen counter,
those help, too.

There are stories about mothers-in-law, of which I
am one... “If I didn’t have you as a mother-in-law,
I’d choose you as a friend.” I felt that way about my
mother-in-law, Leila Jamison Davis, and if you’re
wondering where I’m going with this, I’m going
Family. Family is pretty much what most of my
book is about.

There are pictures of familiar sights...like
flowering cactus swarming with bees, which led
me in a circuitous route to stuff we say, “Pleasant
words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul,
and health to the bones.” Proverbs 16:2 - which
led, equally circuitously, to an excellent recipe for
Chicken Chili Relleno Casserole.

A couple of gentle pieces on procrastination –
do you know what happens when you give a
procrastinator a good idea? Nothing!

A sad tale about homegrown tomatoes - Give a
man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to garden
and the whole neighborhood gets tomatoes. Until
the day you walk out with your cup of coffee and
find that your tomato plant is in shreds! Leaves
have been chomped to bits and all the little yellow
blossoms signifying many more tomatoes on the
way have been sucked dry...we’ve all experienced
this, if we’ve ever grown tomatoes.

Thoughts, revelations, observations, wishes,
dreams... what I wanted to do with this book is
share them with friends, family and frequently
with God, Who never stops listening. Sunrises
and Sunflowers...Speak Hope is ultimately a peek
inside my heart, where HOPE resides.

“Hope is being able to see that there is light despite
all of the darkness.” Desmond Tutu

As Emily Dickinson said, “Hope is the thing with
feathers that perches in the soul, and sings the
tune without words, and never stops at all.”

This book is about Hope, with liberal doses
of humor, optimism, good memories and the
occasional really good recipe. Trust me, dear
friends and neighbors, you’ll be glad you gave
yourself the gift of Sunrises and Sunflowers...
Speak Hope!

“Sunrises & Sunflowers Speak Hope” is here!
