VOLUME 13 NO. 37 WE SHALL NEVER FORGET A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM ONE WHO REMEMBERS: "September 11th, Instead of posting where I was on that day or beautiful pictures in memoriam of the fallen. I am spending the day thinking about each of you. My friends and sometimes foes. The terror attack on the twin towers that day was the ultimate demonstration of the devastation of hate. Hate left unchecked becomes death. There were Republicans, Democrats, independents, socialists, communist, gay, straight, American, foreigners, and every religion and nationality under the sun. All dead because of hate left unchecked. I am saddened by the tone we are all taking when discussing our differences. So much hate and disdain for opposing views. Most of my brothers from my time in the US Navy are very conservative. I love them dearly and would lay down my life for them to this day. But when did hatred become the preferred emotion towards the left. My friends on the left. Fighting for equality should never be reduced to a shouting match of obscenities and hatred towards the right, just because they oppose what you stand for. My religious friends, every major religion preaches love and tolerance so my ques-tion is this... What in the hell are you doing? The terror attacks on 9-11 should have been the ultimate testimony of the path hate will take us. Unfortunately we are not learning the lesson. May God have Mercy on our Souls. Sad Fred Thomas, Sierra Madre US Naval Veteran, Combat Veteran Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm Sierra Madre Police and Fire Departments held their annual September 11th remembrance program to honor the 2,977 individuals who lost their lives. A moment of silence was observed and all officers stood at attention as the Verdugo Emergency System commemorated the precise time when the last World Trade Center collasped. Verdugo Fire Communications Center is a regional emergency dispatch facility serving the cities of Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, Alhambra, Arcadia, Monrovia, Montebello, Monterey Park, San Gabriel, San Marino, Sierra Madre, and South Pasadena.
