 Maintenance District Boundaries, City of Sierra Madre, County of Los Angeles, State of California

The City of Sierra Madre gives notice, pursuant to State of California law, that 
the City Council will continue a public hearing to consider adoption of a resolution 
confirming the ballot results to determine whether a majority protest exists in 
the proceedings to form the Downtown Landscaping and Lighting Maintenance 
District (“District”); and adoption of a resolution confirming the ballot results and 
providing that no majority protest exists in the proceedings to form the Downtown 
Landscaping and Lighting Maintenance District.

On November 10, 2020 the City Council adopted Resolution 20-70 initiating proceedings 
and Resolution 20-71 declaring its intention to form the District, approving 
the Engineer’s Report and setting the time and date of the public hearing for the 
formation of the District. On November 24th, assessment ballots were mailed to 
the property owners within the proposed District’s boundary, to vote for or against 
the formation of the District. On January 12th, 2021, the City Council made a motion 
to continue the Public Hearing and conduct the ballot tabulation on January 
26th, as a result of changes to the meeting time and location in response to the 
COVID-19 pandemic. 

Assessment ballots may be returned by mail in the self-addressed return envelope, 
which is included with the assessment ballot. Ballots returned by mail must be received 
by the City Clerk on or before 3:30 pm on January 26, 2021. You may also 
deliver your assessment ballot to the City Clerk at the following address:

After 3:30 pm on January 12, 2021, and at any time prior to the conclusion of the

DATE AND TIME OF CONTINUED HEARING

City of Sierra Madre City Council meeting; Tuesday, January 26, 2021 (Hearing 
begins at 4:00 p.m.) or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard. Meeting may 
also be accessed on Local Government Access Channel or online. All interested 
persons may attend this meeting and the City Council will hear them with respect 
thereto. 

PLACE OF HEARING

As part of the City of Sierra Madre’s COVID-19 transmission mitigation efforts, 
the City Council meeting will be conducted virtually. The ballot tabulation will be 
conducted at the Memorial Park Bandshell at 222 W Sierra Madre Blvd, weather 
permitting. If weather conditions are not suitable to count ballots outdoors, the 
tabulation will occur at the City Council Chambers at 232 W Sierra Madre Blvd, 
open for members of the public to observe the tabulation with safe distancing accommodations 
due to the COVID-19 pandemic and County Health Officer Orders.

 This meeting will also be recorded for broadcast.

 The Brown Act provides the public with an opportunity to make public

Emails will be acknowledged at the City Council meeting and filed into public 
record. To provide public comment by telephone during the City Council meeting, 
a call-in number will be provided during the meeting when public comment 
is open. Please call in when your topic of interest is being discussed by the City 
Council. You will be placed in the queue until the Mayor opens up the topic for 
public comment.



APPEAL: If in the future anyone wishes to challenge the decision of the City 
Council in court, one may be limited to raising the issues that were raised or presented
