On July 16, 2026, 42 Students from 17 countries and 3 Instructors from the USC Summer
Occupational Therapy Immersion (SOTI) program will visit The Kensington to learn about
innovative models of care for older adults.
SOTI is an annual summer course hosted by the Office of Global Initiatives at the USC Chan
Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, and each year approximately
40 occupational therapy (OT) students and practitioners from around the world come to Los
Angeles to learn about OT practice, education, and research both in the United States and
globally. (http://chan.usc.edu/soti)
In 2026, SOTI expects to enroll participants from 18 countries on 5 continents to create an
authentic global community of learners. At The Kensington, SOTI participants will have the
opportunity to spend time within the Assisted Living and Memory Care communities, as well
as learn how occupational therapy rehabilitation is integrated into holistic care for residents.
They will also share care practices for seniors in their own countries and cultures, with the
hope for mutual learning.
The SOTI program is grateful for this opportunity to visit The Kensington in July, which will
mark the 3rd consecutive year for this collaboration.
