TOURNAMENT OF ROSES VASE 
DESIGN CONTEST 

Each year the Tournament of Roses hosts a special Parade of Roses Vase Design Contest to 
celebrate the upcoming Rose Parade. All students may design a vase, and one is selected by 
each school. The winning student will then paint a real vase and attend a special ceremony at 
the Tournament House on November 8. 

Instructions: 

• Students may be inspired by the 2027 Rose Parade theme, Welcome, but the themedoes not have to limit their design ideas. There are no limits to their creativity! 
• To create sketches for the design, please use the sketch outline. 
• Design sketches may be completed in pen or pencil, but colored pens, crayons orcolored pencils are preferred. The design should continue around the back of the vase. 
• Completed sketches should be turned in to Mr. Newsom in the Main Office byOcotber 1st 
• Teachers and staff will vote as to the winning student design 
• Only the school winner will receive a vase and paint kit. The student may use only thepaint provided because the vase will be glazed and fired later. 
• First-, second- and third-place prizes will be awarded in two divisions: grades 4-5(Elementary) and grades 6-8 (Secondary).
