PASADENA CHAMBER CROWDFUNDS TO RAISE MONEY FOR
STIPENDS FOR SUMMER YOUTH INTERNS
Go Fund Me campaign will support provide funding for 50 or more summer internsplaced with local businesses by the Pasadena Chamber
Pasadena, CA – In partnership with the Pasadena Unified SchoolDistrict office of College and Career Pathways, the Pasadena
Chamber of Commerce placed fifty (50) student interns with localbusinesses this summer. When a promise of funding to supportstipends for each of the students did not materialize, the Chamberchose to utilize crowdfunding through Go Fund Me to solicitfinancial support for the student interns. Through www.gofundme.
com/pasadenayouthworks the Chamber is hoping to raise at least$10,000 or more to provide a small stipend for the 50 students placedthrough the effort.
Student interns are not employees. Internships are a way for youngpeople to become acquainted with the work environment and learnabout potential careers they may want to pursue once they leaveschool. Stipends re not salaries or pay for work, but rather a reward forcompleting the program, which includes classroom instruction withPUSD, supervised placements with local businesses and follow up withChamber and PUSD staff.
All of the students are enrolled in Pasadena Unified School District
and will be high school seniors next year.
“We had hoped to secure financial support through the HumanServices and Recreation Department at the City of Pasadena, butcouldn’t get over some procedural hurdles,” said Pasadena ChamberCEO Paul Little. “We wanted to provide some measure of supportfor the students and thought appealing to the community for helpthrough Go Fund Me would be a way to fund modest stipends forthese industrious students.”
The public can help provide that support for our local students bydonating as little or as much as you can. Donations are tax-deductible.
Donations can be made through the website at www.gofundme.com/
pasadenayouthworks. Donations can be as small or as large as thedonor chooses.
“We are seeking at least $10,000 to provide a small stipend for eachof our student interns,” said Mr. Little. “Though we have many moredeserving students and will distribute all the money raised to studentinterns. The effort is being led by a PUSD intern in our offices.”
Interns are spending the summer learning about our hospitalityindustry, law and government, health careers, public service,
restaurant, business and much more.
The public is invited to support these students in their efforts andprovide funding to modestly reward these deserving young peoplefor their dedication and industriousness during the summer. 100% offunds received by the Chamber will be used to fund stipends for thesestudents.
Everyone who donates will be recognized and thanked publicly.

THE REEL DEAL:

MINIONS REVIEW
The Minions themselves are extremely
popular characters, always being the center
of attention when being talked about.
Both kids and adults love the small yellowcreatures, and the idea of them having theirown movie has interested all of their fans.
Are the Minions just as interesting withoutGru (Steve Carell) or can they not survivealone in a movie?
For a long time, the Minions have livedon our planet and sought to server the mostevil masters on the planet; but when, after
a while, they cannot replace a master, threeof the Minions (Kevin, Stuart, and Bob) go
on a quest to find the most evil super-villainto serve so they can save their species.
‘Minions’ is very quirky, strange, and funny. Made primarily
in France, many of its European roots show throughout
the film, making the humor of the film slightly different thanyou may have seen before. The Minions themselves are still theirusual cute, funny selves, and their stand-alone film offers manylaughs that all ages can enjoy.
