ROTARY'S DAN STOVER MUSIC CONTEST
WINNERS
On Sunday, March 5th, 2023; the Rotary Club of Sierra Madre held their local Dan Stover
Music Contest for local high school students at the British Home in Sierra Madre.
Seven very talented local music students participated playing instruments ranging from the
violin, bass, guitar, piano and flute.
Music pieces ranged from composers Bach, Mozart, to Doppler. After very difficult deliberations
(because all of the students were so talented), the judges Jack Taylor and Kelly Anderson
awarded Levi Li first place, Meridith Southard second, and Sharon Lee third place. Levi will
go on to compete in the area contest in Pasadena in April.
The winner from that contest will compete at the Rotary District Contest in Las Vegas on
May 6th, 2023. Rotarian Marilyn Diaz chaired this event while Russ Meek served as Master
of Ceremony. Many of the students’ family members and their music teachers as well as Rotarians
attended this event.
