 Councilmember Justin
Jones and City Manager
Miguel Márquez joined
Pasadena Water and Power
(PWP) and Parks, Recreation
and Community Services
(PRCS) late last month for
a ceremonial ribbon cutting
to inaugurate the Robinson
Park Electric Vehicle (EV)
Charging Depot.

 EV charging stations are
available at Robinson Park
(1081 N Fair Oaks Ave).
These chargers expand
Pasadena’s robust public
EV charging network with
the addition of 23 Level 2
chargers and five DC fast
chargers.

 PWP continues to expand
transportation electrification
infrastructure, and currently
offers over 100 publicly
accessible EV charging
stations throughout the city.

 For more information
about EV resources, rebates
and charging stations, visit
PWPweb.com/EV.

 PWP provides electricity to
more than 65,000 customers
within Pasadena. PWP
delivers water to nearly
38,000 households and
businesses in Pasadena and
adjacent communities in
the San Gabriel Valley. As a
community-owned utility,
PWP is a not-for-profit public
service owned and operated
by the City of Pasadena for
the benefit of its customers
and the community.

Orange Grove Boulevard
and Craig Avenue

 Director of Public Works,
Greg de Vinck, announced
Thursday that the department
has begun the construction
of a new traffic signal at the
intersection of Orange Grove
Boulevard and Craig Avenue
on May 27. The construction
is anticipated to be completed
by December.

 The proposed improvements
consist of the installation of
a new ADA compliant traffic
signal at the intersection of
Orange Grove Boulevard
and Craig Avenue; corner
extensions at the four corners
of the intersection with
ramps; slurry sealing; signing
and striping including new
crosswalks. This project will
provide safety improvements
for pedestrian and bicycle
access and will integrate
plans for transit, traffic, and
pedestrian circulation.

 The proposed project is
funded by the Affordable
Housing and Sustainable
Communities (“AHSC”)
and the American Rescue
Plan Act (“ARPA”), and the
Measure M program through
LA Metro.

Del Mar Boulevard and
Michigan Avenue

 Greg de Vinck also
announced that the
department will begin the
construction of a new traffic
signal at the intersection
of Del Mar Boulevard at
Michigan Avenue (Pictured)
in June. The construction
is anticipated to also be
completed by December
2025.

 Improvements include
furnishing and installing
new traffic signal equipment
including poles, foundations,
conduits, conductors, video
detection cameras, and pull
boxes. Additionally, the
project includes culvert and
curb ramp reconstruction,
fiber optic cables and
equipment, striping, and
signage.

 The proposed project is
funded by the American
Rescue Plan Act (“ARPA”)
and Measure M Metro
Subregional Programming
(“MSP”) funds thru LA
Metro.

 The Department of Public
Works will be managing the
construction phase of both
projects and traffic impacts
are expected. Construction
will be phased to ensure one
travel lane remains open in
each direction and access
to abutting properties is
maintained at all the times.

 Additional project
information and construction
updates will be posted on the
City’s Public Works web-page
at: cityofpasadena.net.

 The City of South Pasadena
invites owners of classic cars to
showcase their vehicles and help
celebrate Independence Day
by participating in the annual
Festival of Balloons 4th of July
Parade! This beloved hometown
tradition will take place on
Friday, July 4 starting at 11:00
a.m. at Diamond Avenue by the
Library Community Room and
ending at Garfield Park.

This year, we are excited to
welcome classic car enthusiasts
to join the parade and bring
extra sparkle to the event. We
are especially seeking classic
cars to drive local dignitaries
and special guests, providing a
unique way to participate and
add to the festive atmosphere.

and classic cars of all makes and
models are encouraged to apply.
Whether you want to drive in the
parade or transport community
leaders, this is a fantastic
opportunity to share your
passion for classic automobiles
with South Pasadena residents
and visitors.

 The parade theme, Unity
in Community: One Nation,
One Neighborhood, invites
participants to express
togetherness and creativity
through their parade entries.

 City officials announced
Tuesday that Pasadena’s
Parks, Recreation, and
Community Services
(PRCS) Department and
the National Association
for the Advancement of
Colored People (NAACP)
are celebrating Juneteenth
on Saturday, June 14 from
4-9 p.m. at Pasadena City
Hall.

 The Juneteenth Celebration
and NAACP 4rd Annual
Roller Jam will feature
FREE family-friendly
activities, arts and crafts by
Armory Center for the Arts,
a live DJ, and community
resources for all to enjoy.
Roller skates can be loaned
out for free, and food will be
available for purchase.

 Juneteenth commemorates
the effective end of slavery
in the United States. Two
years after President Lincoln
signed the Emancipation
Proclamation, news
reached Texas and, upon
learning they were free,
former slaves immediately
began celebrating with
prayer, feasting, song and
dance. Juneteenth is now a
day to reflect and celebrate
African American history
and culture.

 Pasadena city hall is located
100 N. Garfield Ave.
