Recipe of the Week:

SAGE PORK CHOPS

INGREDIENTS:

2 teaspoons salt

1 teaspoon dried sage

1 teaspoon ground black pepper

6 center cut bone-in pork chops

2 tablespoons butter

1 cup water

2 cubes beef bouillon

DIRECTIONS:

Combine the salt, sage and black pepper in a small
bowl and rub on both sides of the chops. Melt the
butter or margarine in a large skillet over medium
high heat and saute the chops for 5 minutes per side,
or until well browned.

Meanwhile, in a separate small saucepan over high
heat, combine the water and the bouillon and stir
until bouillon dissolves. Add this to the chops, reduce
heat to low, cover and simmer chops for 45 minutes.

GERMAN RED CABBAGE

INGREDIENTS:

1 medium head red cabbage, cored and sliced

2 large tart apples, peeled and sliced

1 medium sweet onion, sliced and separated into
rings

1 1/2 cups water

1 cup cider vinegar

1/2 cup sugar

1 tablespoon butter

1 teaspoon salt

6 whole peppercorns

2 whole allspice

2 whole cloves

1 bay leaf

2 teaspoons cornstarch

2 teaspoons cold water

DIRECTIONS:

In a Dutch oven, toss cabbage, apples and onion. Add
water, vinegar, sugar, butter and salt. Place the peppercorns,
allspice, cloves and bay leaf on a double thickness of
cheesecloth; bring up corners of cloth and stir with kitchen
string to form a bag. Add to Dutch oven. Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1-1/4 hours.

Discard spice bag. In a small bowl, combine cornstarch and
cold water until smooth; stir in cabbage mixture. Bring to a
boil; cook and stir for 1-2 minutes or until thickened.

Approximately one in twenty adults
suffers from migraine headaches. Of those
experiencing these awful headaches, roughly
75% are women and 3.7% are children. It is
estimated that one in four households has a
migraine sufferer.

What, exactly, is a migraine headache?
Generally, this type of headache is severe,
often felt on one side of the head with
pulsating pain that can last up to seventy-
two hours. During the attack, there may be
extreme sensitivity to light and noise, even
nausea with vomiting.

Because of side effects, migraine medication
is not always suitable for some people.
Fortunately, they may find relief in more
natural, nontoxic approaches such as
chiropractic, osteopathy, acupuncture and
improved nutrition. Recent clinical trials in
the magazines, "Neurology" and "Headache",
have shown that specific dosages of the
herbs butterbar and feverfew can reduce the
incidence of migraines by 50%. Although herbs are generally safe, there are always some restrictions
concerning their use. One should consult a health care practitioner who is familiar with side-effects
and drug interactions to ensure safety.

Life style changes can make a difference.

Triggering foods can be a real problem. Try eliminating caffeine, refined sugars, chocolate, and
heavily processed foods. Move to a diet rich in vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and lean proteins.

Avoid dehydration. Teas, coffee, sodas and other prepared beverages cannot provide the body with
the benefits of pure water. If you feel tired, hoarse, or grouchy, sip water before doing anything else.

Get sufficient rest. Various studies have indicated that most adults require no less than seven hours
of uninterrupted sleep for optimal health. Short naps are also recommended.

Movement. Walking in the fresh air of early morning, and again in the evening, is good for most of
us. If you haven't been exercising, start slowly and work up to a more vigorous rhythm.

Meditation. Studies indicate, again and again, the many benefits of this simple practice. Simply
sitting quietly morning and evening, breathing and repeating a word or phrase that creates a sense of
relaxation, will not only feel wonderful but can also calm the body and improve many health issues.

By becoming aware of one's life choices, even migraines can be addressed in a healthy, empowering
fashion.

Markets go up, markets go down. Sometimes we see it coming, sometimes we don't. It all depends
on what both consumers and businesses are buying, and when. How can we tell if and when real
estate will recover?

We need to ignore short-term fluctuations, like the spike in home sales last November, when buyers
thought the first-time tax credit would expire. Then sales rates dropped significantly when Congress
extended the tax credit and removed that original sense of urgency.

We need to pay attention to long-term forecasts instead. Consider that homeownership increases by
roughly 1 million each year. There are 4 million births, 2 million deaths, 1 million new immigrants,
2 million weddings and 1 million divorces each year. All of those events spur people to buy and/or
sell a home.

Crunch the numbers, and you'll see that we can expect roughly 60 million home sales in the next
decade. Regardless of the subprime mortgage debacle, and the ensuing foreclosure crisis, real estate
will remain on the rails, an unstoppable freight train barreling towards homeownership.

Just as surely as the market sees recovery, buyers and sellers still need representation in these
transactions. A recent survey by the National Association of REALTORS® reveals that 80% of buyers
and sellers would recommend their agent to family and friends. That's a loud signal of the

value of representation.

Luther Tsinoglou has just been named the top producing sales agent in Dickson Podley Realtor's Sierra Madre
office for 2009, making the top 10% at the company overall. Luther has been licensed and practicing real estate
since 1992. He specializes in residential and income property in Southern California. Luther can be reached at his
direct line (626) 695-8650 or at luther@tsinoglou.com.
