UPCOMING SIERRA MADRE
STREET CLOSURE PROJECTS
EAST GRAND VIEW WATER PROJECT
Beginning in early February, the Metropolitan Water District
will be working in East Grand View Avenue. The construction
activity will create a new water system connection for Sierra
Madre to the Metropolitan Water District Upper Feeder
that runs under Grand View Avenue. Construction of the water
connection is being done under an April 2006 agreement
between MWD, San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District
(SGVMWD), and the City. The connection, which does not
currently exist, will provide water for Sierra Madre only on
an emergency basis. Under the Agreement, the connection is
not intended to provide a regular, long-term source of water
for the City. The project is fully funded by SGVMWD; there
will be no cost to the City of Sierra Madre for this project.
At times the nature of the construction will require complete
closure of Grand View to all through traffic. Sierra Madre
residents are urged to avoid the use of East Grand View between
Canon Drive and Santa Anita while construction activity
is under way in the street, beginning February 14 and
ending March 7. It is particularly important to avoid the area
during the period from February 21 through February 27, as
construction activity will be continuous 24 hours a day, seven
days a week. Electronic message boards will be set out prior
to the project to remind motorists to use alternate routes,
such as Sierra Madre Boulevard or Orange Grove Avenue.
Additionally, traffic enforcement will be stepped up in the
area surrounding the project during the construction period.
For any questions about the project, please call Bruce Inman,
Director of Public Works, at (626)355-7135 x 801.
BALDWIN AVE. STREET CLOSURE NOTICE
The City of Arcadia is planning to repave and reconstruct
Baldwin Avenue between Foothill Blvd. and Orange Grove
Ave. The construction is scheduled for the month of February
2013. The work will include constructing new handicapped
ramps, replacing damaged curb and gutter, repairing
portions of deteriorated asphalt pavement and grinding
and resurfacing the entire asphalt pavement surface. The
street will remain open to through traffic at all times, but
will require partial street closures. At least one travel lane in
each direction will be open at all times. Expect travel delays
through the area during construction. For more information
or questions regarding the project, please contact Tim
Kelleher of the City of Arcadia at (626) 574-5484 or tke lleher@
