The best Romance movies are mainly about passionate, emotional, andaffectionate love stories. Often, the romance genre overlaps with the dramagenre because of the genre’s intense and dramatic search for love, journeyof love, etc. 
The romance genre, similar to the drama genre, is extremely popular andhas several subgenres, such as romantic dramas, chick flicks, romanticcomedies, romantic action comedies, and romantic thrillers. 
The May Irwin Kiss was the first romance film ever made. It was producedin 1896 by William Heise and was only 47 seconds long! The short, silentfilm, according to Thomas Edison, was the reenactment of May Irwin andJohn Rice “getting ready to kiss, beginning to kiss, and kissing and kissingand kissing in a way that brings down the house every time!” This film,
although short, lacking a plot, and seemingly insignificant, set the stage forhundreds and hundreds of romance films to come. 
Over the years, the best romance movies have become very popular withthe public. Some of the best romance movies of the 1930s are SelznickInternational Picture’s ever- loved Gone with the Wind, George Cukor’sLittle Women, and Robert Wiene’s German- Hungarian operetta film ANight in Venice. 
In the 1940s, the romance genre continued to gain popularity, but thefilms produced in that decade are less recognized today. However, some ofthe popular films from the ‘40s were The Blue Lagoon, Wagon Train, andThe Men in Her Life. By the 1950s, films such as Singin’ in the Rain, SevenBrides for Seven Brothers, Some Like it Hot, and South Pacific hit the bigscreens and will not soon be forgotten. 
The best romance movies greatly affect the culture of films and people.
Romance films was one of the first film genres and set the stage for othergenres to emerge. The best romance movies, especially the ones of recentdecades, have changed the way the general public views romance and love. 
This is because the romance movies of late contain unrealistic plots andcharacters. People feel that their lives and love lives should be like that ofthese romance film characters, despite the fact that these characters arefictional and the romances that they have are also fictional, greatlyexaggerated, and unrealistic. 
If you want to watch to some good, classic best romance movies, but don’tknow where to start, here is a list of must-see romance films from freemovie websites: Titanic, Safe Haven, Fifty Shades of Grey, Crazy StupidLove, and The Notebook, and Dear John.
