2015 REGISTRATION!

Pick up the latest copy of “The Peacock Buzz” to find out what is 
going on in the City of Arcadia! Copies are available at the City 
of Arcadia Recreation Office, Library and City Hall. For specific 
class information or registration forms go to the City’s website at

Registration for classes and activities begins on-line August 17, 2015 
for residents only! You can register by walking in, mailing, and 
faxing beginning August 24, 2015! Try something new this fall 
or sign up for your old favorites. For questions and on-line Log-in 
ID information for active accounts, please contact the Recreation 
Department at 626.574.5113. For new registrants, please remember 
to include your proof of residency/ child’s birth with your forms 
and on-line submittals. This information is required and will delay 
the process if not provided. 

Activities fill up quickly so get your registration requests in to assure 
your spot! The Recreation and Community Services Department is 
located at 375 Campus Drive, Arcadia 91007.

For the period of Sunday, August 9th, through Saturday, August 
15th, the Police Department responded to 1,125 calls for service of 
which 117 required formal investigations. The following is a summary 
report of the major incidents handled by the Department during this 
period.

Sunday, August 9:

Just before 11:50 a.m., an officer responded to Hai Di Lao Restaurant 
at the Westfield Shopping Town, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, 
regarding a petty theft report. The officer discovered an unidentified 
suspect picked up the victim’s credit card that had been dropped by 
the waitress. The victim was informed by her bank that the suspect 
had charged approximately $3,000. The investigation is ongoing.

 The suspect is described as an Asian male wearing an orange 
shirt, pants, and sandals. He was accompanied by a female toddler. 

 At approximately 5:15 p.m., an officer responded to 24-Hour 
Fitness, 125 North First Avenue, regarding a vehicle burglary. An 
investigation revealed an unknown suspect smashed the driver’s 
window and stole the victim’s purse. No suspects were seen and no 
witnesses were located.

Monday, August 10:

At about 10:47 a.m., an officer conducted an enforcement stop on 
a vehicle in the area of Baldwin Avenue and the 210 Freeway for 
failing to stop at a red light. Upon contacting the driver, the officer 
discovered the driver had a suspended license. The 46-year-old 
female from Studio City was cited and released in the field. Her 
vehicle was left legally parked. 

 At approximately 7:50 p.m., an officer initiated consensual contact 
with a subject near the intersection of Huntington Drive and Santa 
Anita Avenue. The officer witnessed the 43-year-old female from 
Arcadia drink from a can that was concealed in a paper bag. Upon 
contacting the suspect, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol 
emitting from her breath. She was cited and released in the field.

Tuesday, August 11:

Around 1:29 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the 1200 
block of Michillinda Avenue regarding a credit card theft report. 
The victim believes the suspect accessed her hotel room while 
visiting Yosemite, wrote down the account number of her credit 
card that was in plain sight, and attempted to make a purchase 
online. The bank declined the transaction. No suspects were seen 
and no witnesses were located. 

 Just after 8:47 p.m., an officer responded to a traffic accident in 
the intersection of Santa Anita Avenue and Campus Drive. Party-1 
was travelling south on Santa Anita Avenue when they collided 
with Party-2, who was turning left from Santa Anita Avenue onto 
Campus Drive. Both parties claimed to have green lights. No 
injuries were reported although a city light pole was damaged. 

Wednesday, August 12:

Shortly after 12:22 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a 
vehicle in the area of Las Tunas Drive and Live Oak Avenue for 
failing to have a front license plate on the vehicle. Upon contacting 
the occupants, the officer discovered the driver had a suspended 
license and one of the passengers was on probation for identity 
theft related charges. During a consensual search of the vehicle, 
the officer located methamphetamine, burglary tools, and drug 
paraphernalia. The driver, a 27-year-old male from South Gate, was 
arrested for the aforementioned charges. One of the passengers, a 
40-year-old female from Huntington Park, was arrested for False 
ID To Peace Officer, Possession of Burglary Tools, and also had 
two outstanding misdemeanor warrants. The second passenger, 
a 27-year-old female from Bellflower, was arrested for Possession 
of Burglary Tools and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. All three 
were transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 

 At about 3:07 a.m., officers and Arcadia Fire responded to a 
residence on fire in the 700 block of Fairview Avenue. A preliminary 
investigation revealed the fire may have been caused by exposed 
wiring as the residence is being renovated. No injuries were 
reported. 

Thursday, August 13:

At approximately 7:06 a.m., an officer responded to the area of 
Duarte Road and El Monte Avenue regarding a report of indecent 
exposure. The victim stated the suspect exposed himself while 
sitting in his gold, four-door sedan. The victim obtained the 
suspect’s license plate and the vehicle is registered to a male out of 
the City of West Covina. The investigation is ongoing. 

 Around 10:30 p.m., an officer responded to Drinkers Hall of 
Fame, 151 East Huntington Drive, regarding a fight in progress. 
The officer discovered that three to four suspects had started a 
fight with a group of three males. The suspects were gone upon the 
officer’s arrival. The victims refused medical attention and declined 
prosecution.

 The suspects are described as two white males and one suspect of 
Middle Eastern or Hispanic descent. All suspects were between the 
ages of 25 and 30-years-old. 

Friday, August 14: 

At about 9:28 a.m., an officer responded to the 600 block of West 
Duarte Road regarding a vehicle burglary report. An investigation 
revealed an unknown suspect smashed the rear passenger side 
window, stole the victim’s purse, and fled undetected. No witnesses 
were located.

 Just after 4:16 p.m., an officer responded to Bath and Body Works 
at the Westfield Shopping Town, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, 
regarding a grand theft report. The victim stated that when she 
turned around to pick up an item she had dropped, someone 
stole her iPhone from her stroller. No suspects were seen and no 
witnesses were located. 

Saturday, August 15:

Just after 7:30 a.m., officers responded to the U.S. Forestry 
Headquarters, 701 North Santa Anita Avenue, regarding a 
suspicious subject performing tests on trees. Officers located the 
59-year-old male from Sierra Madre with matches in his pocket and 
a pile of kindling, twigs, and sticks near the base of a large tree. The 
suspect is on parole for arson. He was arrested and transported to 
the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 

 At approximately 8:37 p.m., officers responded to Macy’s at the 
Westfield Shopping Town, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a 
kidnapping report. An investigation revealed a biological mother, 
who had lost custody of her son, followed her aunt and son to the 
mall and kidnapped the 3-year-old child. Following an Arcadia 
P.D. news broadcast and special bulletin, Los Angeles Sheriff 
Department deputies located the suspect and child in Los Angeles. 
Arcadia officers arrested the 25-year-old female from Rosemead 
and transported her to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. The child 
was unharmed and released to DCFS.

Arcadia Senior Services in collaboration with and Neurosearch, 
Inc. of Pasadena is providing a FREE Parkinson’s Support Group 
for individuals with movement disorders and their family/friends 
or individuals interested in learning about Parkinson’s disease. 
Light refreshments will be served. Walk-ins are welcome and 
reservations are preferred, please call 626.574.5130
