Free on-air publicity for local events
Sierra Madre’s EMERGENCY radio station is now accepting scripts for
Public Service Announcements (PSAs) about community events. PSAs
will be broadcast on the air at no charge. The station operates 24/7 and
can be heard at 1630 on the AM dial.
Any local non-profit or non-commercial organization can have their
event information broadcast to the public on Sierra Madre Community
Information Radio. The station covers the city of Sierra Madre, plus
surrounding areas of Pasadena, Arcadia, and Monrovia.
Your event must:
• Benefit a non-commercial or non-profit entity
• Be open to the public
• Be of general interest to local citizens
Just
write a Public Service Announcement that describes your event and
e-mail it to radio@cityofsierramadre.com.
COMMUNITY
YARD SALE IN
SIERRA MADRE
The City of Sierra Madre Senior Community Commission is
hosting the 6th Annual Community Yard Sale on Saturday,
June 4, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Sierra Vista
Park (611 E. Sierra Madre Blvd). Community members and
organizations are invited to clean out their garages, attics,
storage sheds and closets sell them at this great event.
The fee for a selling space is $35.00 and a yard sale permit
does not need to be purchased; proceeds will benefit senior
programs and activities. If you would like to participate in the
Community Yard Sale, you must register in person at City
Hall, located at 232 W. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre, CA
91024. The deadline to register is Thursday, May 27 or until
spaces are filled. Spots are filled on a first come, first serve
basis.
Participants must provide their own tables, chairs, canopies
(12’x12’ maximum) and cash boxes if needed. No electricity
will be provided. Live animals, large canopies, and selling
of food or drinks are prohibited. All business must be
conducted within your space. Event may be cancelled due to
inclement weather.
A limited number of spaces are available. For more

SIGN UP NOW FOR DODGER
STADIUM TOUR
Sign up now for your spot on the L. A. Dodger Stadium Tour
and Box Lunch on July 16. Board a bus at 9:00 am in front
of the Sierra Madre Public Library for a short ride to Dodger
Stadium and take part in an exclusive hour-and-a-half-long
tour behind the scenes, followed by a box lunch with Dodger
dogs.
The tour is part of One Book One City, a popular annual
community reading program sponsored by the Sierra Madre
Public Library. The deadline to reserve your spot is July
1. Ticket prices are: $45 adults, and $35 seniors and youth
under 18.
The Natural, by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Bernard
Malamud, is this year’s OBOC choice. The witty and biting
novel is thought by many to be the best baseball book ever
written. OBOC invites everyone in the area to read and
discuss the same book during a month of exciting programs.
The goals are to build a sense of community, promote literacy,
and have fun.
The Dodger Stadium Tour is only one of a series of baseball
related activities during July. Reservation forms are available
at the Library and online at www.cityofsierramadre.com/
services/library.
