Walk of Life, the 11th annual walkathon of
the Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry
(ABMDR), will take place on Saturday,
October 1, in Glendale.

Registration for the event will begin at 9 am,
in the plaza of the City of Glendale building,
at 633 East Broadway Avenue. Following the
opening ceremony at 9:30 am, the walkathon
will start at 10 am. The 5K walk/run will
conclude with participants returning to the

a celebration will take place, featuring food
and music.

 Several elected officials and community
leaders, among them Glendale Mayor
Paula Devine, members of the Glendale
City Council, and California State Senator
Anthony Portantino, will participate in the
walkathon, which seeks to raise support
for the life-saving mission of ABMDR.
Also participating in the event will be
“Good Day L.A.” (KTTV) anchorwoman
Araksya Karapetyan; the “Walk Angels,” a
team of patients who have survived cancer;
various teams that will walk in honor or in
memory of loved ones; and teams from area
schools, universities, youth associations, and
organizations.

Walkathon participants can sign up online
(at abmdr.am/walk/), as either individuals
or teams. The advance registration fee is $25
($30 at the event). The fee for students and
children is $10. Students receive eight hours
of community-service credit for participating
in the walkathon. Parking is free.

ELECTION FORUMS

ALL ARE WELCOME to a forum on the California
ballot propositions for the November elections. This
is a FREE service to the community in order to help us
become informed voters. Former Mayer of Arcadia,
Gary Kovacic, Esq. will moderate a forum of seven
Church Barristers and friends to discuss and explain
all 18 State and County measures. These barristers
will provide their unbiased and comprehensive
explanations of the pros and cons of each proposed
measure. If you are confused by the sheer scope of
this year’s ballot, with measures on issues ranging
from bilingual education, public transportation, and
the death penalty to legalized marijuana, purchase
of ammunition, and banning plastic bags, you will
want to attend these presentations and will be able
to walk away feeling more confident that you will be
voting your intended choices.

Because of the number of ballot measures, this
year there will be two Forums. The first, on October
9, will cover Measures 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 60, 63,
and County M. The second, on October 16, will cover
Measures 51, 58, 59, 61, 62, 64, 65, 66, and 67.

Both Forums will be held at Church of the Good
Shepherd (400 W. Duarte Rd. Arcadia, CA 91007) in
Jordan Hall, starting at 10:45 a.m.
