During this time period, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded to 
approximately 189 day and night time calls for service.

Tuesday, November 29

 A residential burglary occurred between 2:00 p.m. and 9:20 p.m. in 
the 700 block of W. Grandview Ave. Unknown suspect(s) forced entry by 
shattering a glass window in the master bedroom. The house was ransacked 
with several personal items stolen.

Case forwarded to Detectives

Wednesday, November 30

 At approximately 12:28 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 block of 
Camillo Rd regarding a home burglary report. Sometime between 11/15/16 
and 11/30/16, unknown person(s) shattered a bedroom window and entered 
the home, ransacking rooms and stealing several personal items.

This case forwarded to Detectives

Thursday, December 1

 A victim of an auto burglary came into the station to file a report. At 
about 9:47 a.m. officers were told that the victim’s unlocked vehicle was 
parked in her driveway in the 600 block of E. Grandview. Stolen from the 
vehicle were a purse and a backpack containing personal items.

 Case pending.

Friday, December 2

 SMPD officers were dispatched to the 100 block of W. Sierra Madre Bl., 
regarding a commercial burglary. At about 3:15 a.m., between 2 and 4 
suspect(s) smashed and entered through a glass front door. Taken was an 
undisclosed amount of cash.

 Case forwarded to Detectives along with video from security cameras at 
the location.

Saturday, December 3

At about 3:00 a.m., a verbal argument creating a disturbance in the 00 block 
of E. Laurel resulted in the arrest of a female subject. The officers responding, 
transported the subject to the Pasadena Police Dept. jail for booking.

 Case forwarded to the DA’s office for filing considerations for public 
intoxication.

Sunday, December 4

 Residents in the 100 block of E. Grandview returned home at about 2:57 
p.m. to find that their second vehicle that was parked in the garage was left 
with the doors open and the engine running. The victims noticed that the 
entry door to the residence was also open. The residents saw that the home 
was ransacked and notified the SMPD.

 Responding officers observed that unknown suspect(s) removed a lower 
front window and made entry into the house.

 Case pending while residents complete an inventory of missing items.

Free on-air publicity for local events

 Sierra Madre’s EMERGENCY radio station is now accepting scripts for 
Public Service Announcements (PSAs) about community events. PSAs 
will be broadcast on the air at no charge. The station operates 24/7 and 
can be heard at 1630 on the AM dial.

 Any local non-profit or non-commercial organization can have their 
event information broadcast to the public on Sierra Madre Community 
Information Radio. The station covers the city of Sierra Madre, plus 
surrounding areas of Pasadena, Arcadia, and Monrovia. 

Your event must:

• Benefit a non-commercial or non-profit entity
• Be open to the public
• Be of general interest to local citizens


Just 
write a Public Service Announcement that describes your event and 
e-mail it to radio@cityofsierramadre.com.

SIERRA MADRE CHRISTMAS 
TREE RECYCLING AND HOLIDAY 
TRASH SCHEDULE


Athens Services will once again collect Christmas trees after the 
holidays for recycling. Trees 
will be collected on your 
normal pickup day beginning 
on December 26th and until 
the end of the second week in 
January. 

Please remove stands, 
ornaments, lights and tinsel. 
Place trees next to your regular 
trash containers. Trees over 
6 feet in length must be cut in 
half. Trees with flocking or fire 
retardants are acceptable. 

If you miss the regular tree collection period, please make 
arrangements to have Athens collect your tree as part of their bulky 
item pickup program by calling 888-336-6100.

Residents should also be aware that holiday collection days this year 
will not be delayed by the usual single day due to the Christmas 
Holiday and New Year’s Day Holiday landing on Sundays.
