31st Annual Young Classical Concert Artist Competition Now Open for Entries.
Deadline For Applications January 20th, 2018. 

Since 1986, the PCO Young Artist Competitionhas identified, assisted and featured talented youngmusicians in the furtherance of their musical career 
and education. The winner of the competition willappear as Guest Soloist with the PCO on Friday,
May 11, 2018 and will receive a $500 cash award.

The competition is open to contestants betweenthe ages of 16–25 years old who perform on thepiano or a standard orchestral instrument (voicenot admitted). Contestant must be ready to performan entire concerto or solo work with orchestra 
accompaniment; judges will determine whichportions of the work will be performed at thecompetition. All music must be performed frommemory; the judges may request any portion ofthe music and may terminate any audition withoutprejudice to the performer. If, in the opinion of thejudges, no contestant attains an adequate standardof excellence to perform with the orchestra, thejudges shall have the right to recommend that noone be selected. Each contestant must appear foraudition at the scheduled time. Contestants must 
perform with accompaniment, and must providetheir own accompanist and one copy of the score forthe judges. The judges shall be selected by the YoungArtists Audition Committee. Any teacher enteringa student in this audition will not be eligible to serveas a judge. The decision of the judges is final andirrevocable. Judging is based on the outstandingperformance and suitability to the orchestra. Theage of a contestant is not a consideration.

org/young-artist-competition. A registration feeof $60 must accompany the completed print entryform. Once the application has been accepted,
no refund will be made. An additional fee 
of $2.75 applies to online applications/payments.
Application and registration fee may be mailedto Young Artist Competition, 1020 S. 5th St., 
Montebello, CA 90640. The closing postmark datefor receipt of entries is January 20, 2018. It is theresponsibility of the contestant to be sure that theapplication is submitted on time.
