Free on-air publicity for local events 
Sierra Madre’s EMERGENCY radio station is now accepting scripts 
for Public Service Announcements (PSAs) about community events. 
PSAs will be broadcast on the air at no charge. The station operates 
24/7 and can be heard at 1630 on the AM dial. 
Any local non-profit or non-commercial organization can have their 
event information broadcast to the public on Sierra Madre Community 
Information Radio. The station covers the city of Sierra Madre, plus 
surrounding areas of Pasadena, Arcadia, and Monrovia. 
Your event must: 
• 
Benefit a non-commercial or non-profit entity 
• 
Be open to the public 
• 
Be of general interest to local citizens 
Just write a Public Service Announcement that describes your event 
and e-mail it to radio@cityofsierramadre.com.

SIERRA MADRE POLICE BLOTTER 

 January 7, to January 14, 2018During this time period, the Sierra Madre Police Departmentresponded to approximately 374 day and night time calls forservice. 

Tuesday, January 9

A non-injury traffic collision occurred in the 300 Blk. ofSturtevant Dr. During the investigation the driver was found tobe unlicensed. The vehicle was towed per the owner’s request,
and the driver was cited for an unlicensed driver and released. 

Thursday, January 11

At about 12:22 p.m., an officer reported to the station’s lobby
for a report from a resident regarding possible vandalism to
her vehicle in the 300 block of Grove St.

Sunday, January 14

Officers responded to a suspected drunk driver in the 00 block of

W. Sierra Madre Blvd. at about 6:11 p.m. The officers conducted 
an investigation and arrested the man for a DUI violation, hewas then transported to the Pasadena Police jail.

Unlicensed/Suspended License

During this time period citations were issued to 5 individualsthat were operating their vehicles without a license or drivingwith a suspended license. Their vehicles were impounded orturned over to someone with a valid driver’s license. Always beaware of the status of your license.

3. Designers should consider the appropriate use of floatriders, Sierra Madre Rose Princesses/Escorts(2-4) and animation. Float designs should represent a float nolonger than 55 feet and 18 feet wide.
4. The design contest is open to all ages (need not be aSierra Madre resident nor a Sierra Madre Rose Float Association 
member). Designs developed by Groups, Art Classes orother organizations are gladly received. Designers are encouraged 
also to submit more than one design.
5. Please provide a title to the float design. Submission should 
include a written description (no more than 100 words) of the concept 
and possible animations.
6. While only a very simple sketch is required to illustrate theconcept, more detail can help in the selection process. 
Design Rules: 

1. Designs must be submitted on an 8 . X 11 “Theme DraftForm” in black & white pencil. No color drawings or oversized drawings 
will be accepted. Do not include the title of the float within thedesign drawing.
2. Designs submitted to the Sierra Madre Rose Float Association 
will become the property of the Association and may be modifiedby the Association to achieve construction and floral requirements.
3. Designers will be required to sign a Design Release formcertifying the originality of their design and assigning those designrights to the Sierra Madre Rose Float Association.
4. The designer(s) may be asked for consultation. 
5. The designer understands that he/she will receive no compensation, 
monetary or otherwise, for the use of the design and thatthe Sierra Madre Rose Float Association, City of Sierra Madre and/
or the Pasadena Tournament of Roses have no obligation of any kindtowards designer(s).
6. Submitted designs are not returnable.
