Sierra Madre city employees have been busy dealing a structure response strike team to provide water

Tuesday, January 16, 2018, was the filing deadline for candidates interested in running for one of thethree open Sierra Madre city council seats in the April 10, 2018 Municipal Election. At the end of the filing 
period, four contenders emerged, three incumbent councilpersons Mayor Rachelle Arizmendi, MayorPro Tem Denise Delmar and Former Mayor and Councilmember Gene Goss. The fourth candidate, AndyBencosme is a local realtor and the current chair of the city's Community Services Commission.

The election will also include two ballot measures, Measure D - Stop The Utility Users Tax and MeasureA - An advisory ballot measure. (See related notice below).

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the General Municipal Election is to be held in the City of Sierra Madre on Tuesday,
April 10, 2018, at which there will be submitted to the voters the following measure: 
LOCAL MEASURE “D” – STOP THE UTILITY TAX 
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that pursuant to Article 4, Chapter 3, Division 9 of the Elections Code of the State ofCalifornia, the legislative body of the City of Sierra Madre, or any members thereof authorized by the body, or anyindividual voter or bona fide association of citizens, or any combination of voters and associations, may file a writtenargument, not to exceed 300 words, accompanied by the printed name(s) and signature (s) of the author(s) submittingit, or if submitted on behalf of an organization, the name of the organization, and the printed name and signature of atleast one of its principal officers who is the author of the argument, for or against the City measure. 
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that, based upon the time reasonably necessary to prepare and print the argumentsand Voter Information Guide for the election, the City Clerk/Election Official has fixed January 30, 2018, during normaloffice hours as posted, as the date after which no arguments for or against City measures may be submitted to the clerkfor printing and distribution to voters as provided in Article 4.
