First to respond to thecall, the Arcadia Police Department discoveredan overturned vehicle. According to the APDpress release, at about 10:35 a.m., a vehicle reportedly overturned for unknown reasons onChantry Flat Road, just south of the city’s borderwith Angeles National Forest. First responders found an adult female, an adultmale, and a juvenile all trapped in the wreckage. Shortly after the collision, the woman was sadlypronounced deceased. Meanwhile, the man and the boy were treated byparamedics at the location for what appeared tobe minor injuries. It was not immediately clear who was drivingthe vehicle when the crash took place. SIERRA MADRE FROSTY AND THE FIREFIGHTERS Every year Frostymakes a visit to town justto have a little fun for a few days. His presence is courtesyof a few friends that packhim up all nice and neat, and magically reassemblehim down in KerstingCourt. Frosty doesn't stay toolong but just about everyone stops by for a photoop with him. Even our local fire department is not beyonda picture of two with ourannual visitor. MVNews This year's entry to the Tournament of Roses Parade is called, "Chivalry" and depicts our own dinosaur, aka Sierra, with a wounded paw being helped by a young knight in shining (or blooming)armor. The design was submitted by Joanne Garcia. Sierra Madre is the smallest city to enter a float in the parade. The volunteers comes together to self- build and self-fund the annual float creation. This is our 86th year demonstrating the commitment of our community to come together to create an meaningful experience for our volunteers. Our float, depicting a young knight-to-be helping the injured dragon, demonstrates kindness in helping others. A Rose blossom tree graces the front of the float. A First Aid kit is being used by young boy standing on a parapet to bandage a lady dragon's paw. 4 young ladies grace the back of the float sitting under a large Rose blossom tree. The perimeter of the float mimics castle wall ruins. FLOAT DESCRIPTION: Height: 32 feet Width: 18 feet Length: 42 feet FLOWERING: FLOWERS/FRESH: Roses, Gladiolus, Gerbera Daisies, Asters, Veronica, Agapanthus, Queen Anne's Lace, Gypsophelia, Galex leaves, Silver leaf, Dusty Miller, Smilax, Bear Grass, Cymbidiums, Dendrobiums, Button Mums, Mini Carnations, Pincushion Protea, Thistle, Wax flowers, Decorative Kale, Sheet Moss, Limes, Lichen, Italian Ruskus, and Deflexus, Green Dianthus, Curly Willow.
