SIERRA MADRE NEWS BRIEFS

EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING!

The National Weather Service predicts temperatures reaching 100 degress for this week and
the City of Sierra Madre reminds residents how important it is to stay hydrated and avoid
spending too much time outdoors to avoid heat exhaustion. Along with drinking plenty of water
and sticking to indoor recreation, you might follow these guidelines to reduce your chances
of heat-related illness that could send you to the emergency room.

·Use sunscreen to avoid burns

·Wear loose fitting clothing

·Know your prescription medications

·Drink plenty of water

·Avoid unnecessary sun exposure

·Never leave pets or children in closed vehicles

During normal business hours our City library, Senior Center and City Hall are all cool
places to take a break from the heat.

If you are experiencing a heat related emergency call 911.

INCREASE IN MAIL AND PACKAGE THEFTS PROMPTS THIS
MESSAGE FROM THE SMPD:

PROTECT YOUR MAIL AND PACKAGES:

The theft of mail from residential mailboxes is an increasing problem. Con artists
use this as a means to obtain your identity information and to steal checks and other
items of value. This problem can be reduced or minimized by following these tips:

·Please check and empty your mail box daily

·Do not leave newspapers or fliers on your porch or driveway

·If you will be away, have someone take care of these items for you

·Help your neighbors

IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING

CONSERVE WATER PLEASE!!

Efficient water use is a way of life in Sierra Madre, and it is
important to remember that permanent water use restrictions
remain in effect regardless of the drought status. In addition
to efficient water use practices, the City has a number of resources
available to help residents and businesses manage water
consumption.

Need to Report Water Waste?

Do you notice water being wasted, such as irrigation water
running down the street, broken or misdirected sprinklers watering
pavement or watering in the middle of the day? You can
anonymously report waste though the City’s websit
