ARCADIA POLICE BLOTTER
COOLING CENTER AT MONROVIA
COMMUNITY CENTER UNTIL SUNDAY, 7/16
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health issued a heat advisory for parts of Los Angeles
County this weekend. Make sure you take precautions to avoid heat-related illness and remain safe!
The Monrovia Community Center (119 W. Palm Ave.) opened its cooling center today and will be open to
the public until this Sunday, July 16, 2023. Hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. All ages are welcome,
and minors must be accompanied by a guardian at all times.
Excessive heat poses a substantial health risk, especially for young children, the elderly, people with chronic
diseases, pregnant individuals, people with disabilities, and people who are socially isolated and may be
especially sensitive to negative health impacts from excessive heat.
Here are a few reminders to stay safe and cool:
• Drink plenty of fluids
• Stay in an air-conditioned room
• Check up on relatives and neighbors
• Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
Residents can also take advantage of free cooling centers throughout the county. To find a location near
you, visit https://ready.lacounty.gov/heat/ or call 211.
