RECOVERY RUN (continued from page 1)

MWT 5K Trail Recovery Run/Race/Walk registration fees are $54.25 for adults (ages 18+)
and $44.25 for youth (ages 5 – 17). All registered 5K runners receive a goodie bag and special
5K Trail Recovery Run t-shirt. This is a rare opportunity to participate in a fun event
and earn a Mount Wilson Trail Race t-shirt for those who might not otherwise consider
racing on the Mount Wilson Trail itself when it reopens in 2026.

Registration for the Kids’ Fun Run (ages 3 – 13) is FREE and can also be by going to the
Mount Wilson Trail Race website at https://www.mountwilsontrailrace.com and using the
MWTR registration link. The Kids’ Fun Run distances are 1.0 mile (for ages 8 – 13) and
.6 miles (for ages 3 – 7). Parents may accompany their younger children during the Kids’
Fun Run. All Kids’ Fun Run children participating receive a Kids’ Fun Run T-shirt and
finisher’s ribbon.

LOCAL GROUP DONATES TO SIERRA MADRE SEARCH AND RESCUE

e St. Rita Men's Club presented a check for $2,500 to the Sierra Madre Search & Rescue earlier
last week at the local rescue organization's Stonehouse Road station house in Sierra Madre. To the
sound of applause from its membership, a very grateful SMS&R President Jon Pedder accepted the
donation on behalf of his organization from St. Rita Men's Club President Jeff Throop and other
members who participated in the August 27th ceremony.

This donation from the St. Rita Men's Club and its membership continues a relationship between
the two organizations which started two years ago when a similar donation was made for training
necessities.

The SMS&R team plans to use the $2,500 donation to purchase gear for a new rescue vehicle and
will ensure successful response to emergencies anywhere in the wilderness for those who need
assistance.

A decades-long fixture in the community, the Sierra Madre Search & Rescue is an all-volunteer
organization with trained professionals who come to the aid of those who use mountainous terrain
and wilderness areas. Sierra Madre Search and Rescue is an all-volunteer, professional, unpaid non-
profit 501(c)(3) organization. The organization relies on donations for 100% of its operating costs.

WORKING TOGETHER TO EDUCATE THE COMMUNITY

Last week, Officer Garcia and Detective Rogers partnered with BMO Manager Asme Chaudry,
engaged with members of the Sierra Madre community (above) about fraud prevention. They
shared valuable tips on how to recognize comment scams, and how to protect yourself from being
the victim.

If you or someone you know in Sierra Madre has experienced fraud or suspects fraudulent activity,
please don’t hesitate to contact the Sierra Madre Police Department. We’re here to help. #FraudPrevention
