CHARLIE BELL - continued from page 1

stories with others on subjects ranging from opera to
mountains, to economics, to literature, and to movies.
His friends would kid him that he had Charlie “groupies”
– young(er) ladies who knew about Charlie’s Trail
and wanted to take their picture with him.

Charlie never married and, when asked by a lady
friend why he never married, simply said “Because I
was an engineer, and women don’t marry engineers.”

Charlie is survived by a myriad of loving neighbors
and friends, who shall miss his laugh, his sarcasm, his
growl, and his sweet smile. He is also survived by his
Schipperke dog, Toby, who has been adopted into a
new loving home.

Happy Trails, Charlie, thanks for your hard work and
keep the path in good shape for those yet to follow.

A casual memorial service will be held for Charlie
on Saturday, October 11, at Lizzie’s Trail Inn museum
starting at 10am. Following the memorial, food will be
served inside the museum. Everyone is invited to attend,
there will be chairs to sit on, and all will be given
an opportunity to say a few words should they wish.

For those who would like to make a tax-deductible donation
in Charlie’s name, you may do so to the Fletcher
Trail Maintenance Fund, which pays for the equipment,
materials, and supplies, used by the all-volunteer
Trail Maintenance Crew to repair and maintain the Mt.
Wilson Trail. Neither the City of Sierra Madre nor the
US Forest Services provides any labor or supplies.

SIERRA MADRE ART WALK RETURNS
OCTOBER 10 WITH EXPANDED

VENUES AND SUPPORT FOR FIRE-
AFFECTED ARTISTS

"I realized that my role is to be a beacon of light—someone who
listens, encourages, and guides others through the darkness with
kindness, patience, and respect.” Mario Ricardo Rodriguez

“It was truly life-giving to watch our familiar space come alive
with the hope and color of the artwork. The transformation
brought a fresh energy that changed not only the way the space
looked, but also how it felt to be in it. We loved the impact so
much that we asked the artist to keep the work up beyond the
event and it’s become part of the character of our space.

Community arts event to showcase 50+ artists across
40+ locations with new venues and special opportunities
for artists impacted by recent disaster.

SIERRA MADRE, CA – The Sierra Madre Art Walk returns
on October 10, 2025, expanding beyond its successful
June event that featured 50 artists across 34 galleries, studios, and businesses. The upcoming
event will include several new venues throughout the community and provide special opportunities
for artists affected by the Eaton Fires and other recent catastrophic events.

Building on Sierra Madre's reputation as a thriving arts hub, the Art Walk will showcase diverse local
talent including painters, photographers, printmakers, assemblage artists, stained and fused-glass
artists, woodworkers, ceramicists, and photographers. Live acoustic music will accompany the event.

The ArtWalk transforms local businesses into temporary galleries, with participating venues including
Keller Williams Realty, Savor the Flavor, Collective Co-Op, Fables & Fancies, RT Rogers Brewery,
and the Sierra Madre Playhouse. Three anchor galleries—Creative Arts Group, Baldwin Avenue Gallery
(BAG), and Language Mobilization Factory (LMF) Gallery and Darkroom—will also participate.

"It's an opportunity for people to discover both our local artists and our local businesses," noted a
committee member. "They're going to find things and meet people they didn't know before."

The Art Walk is organized by a dedicated committee of 12 artists, gallery owners, and art enthusiasts
who began planning nearly a year ago.
