THE DILLS AWARDS: 
Best of the Best (Q1 Edition) 

Let’s skip the hype and get to it. This isn’t about what’s new—it’s about 
where I go back. If I’m spending my own money, sitting down without 
hesitation, and doing it again next week… that’s the Dills Return Test. 
These are my 4 and 5-star winners for the quarter. 

Best Steakhouse Experience — Taylor's Steakhouse (La Cañada Flintridge) 
Steak. Martini. No nonsense. Owner Bruce Taylor keeps it old-
school because it works. Dills Take: A steakhouse should feel like one. 
Taylor’s delivers. 

Best Local Favorite — Casa Del Rey (Sierra Madre)
Casa Del Rey shines in Sierra Madre. Shredded chicken tacos, strong 
margaritas (ask for “The Peter Special”), and a small-town vibe that 
works. Dills Take: Not trendy. Just dependable—and that’s why I go 
back. 

Best Neighborhood Italian — Colombo's Italian Steakhouse & Jazz Club (Eagle Rock)
You almost don’t want to tell people about Colombo’s. Great pasta, solid salad, and Julie pours the strongest 
drink this side of New Orleans. Dills Take: Old-school, generous, and consistent. 

Best Special Occasion Dining — Parkway Grill (Pasadena)
When it’s time to step it up—this is the move. Service, pacing, and execution all dialed in.
Dills Take: A Pasadena standard that still holds. 

Best Classic American — Houston's Pasadena 
(Pasadena) Not cheap—but always right. Bar 
seat, French dip, done. 
Dills Take: Consistency is King. 

Diamond in the Rough — The Stony Point 
Restaurant (Pasadena)
My dad loved it. I respect that. Me? Still 
warming up… after 30 years. But there’s tradition 
here—and that counts. 
Dills Take: Not quite a diamond—but there’s 
a shine. 

IN SUMMARY 

Forget the buzz. Where do you go when it’s 
your money on the table? For me—it’s these. 
And as my dad used to say: “Feed the masses, 
and you’ll eat with the classes.”
