WISTARIA FESTIVAL
The United States Postal Service and the Sierra Madre
Chamber of Commerce announce a special postal
cancellation to celebrate The Sierra Madre Wistaria Festival.
This special postmark will be available at the Sierra Madre
Wistaria Festival, Sunday March 25, 2012 at the Wistaria
Festival Postal Station located at Kersting Court in Sierra
Madre at Sierra Madre Boulevard and Baldwin Avenue.
This special temporary postal station will be open 11 A.M.
to 3 P.M.
Bring post cards or letters. You can send mail and post from
this special event post office and surprise your friends when
they receive mail with this extraordinary postmark.
The announcement of this postal cancellation has been
printed in the U. S. Postal Bulletin which is distributed
world wide. To accommodate collectors from out of the
area the Sierra Madre Post Office will cancel postcards and
letters upon request with the Wistaria cancellation for 30
days after the event.
To postmark a letter after the event go to Sierra Madre Post
office and request The Wistaria Postmark on your mail.

Free on-air publicity for local events
Sierra Madre’s new community radio station is now accepting scripts
for Public Service Announcements (PSAs) about community events.
PSAs will be broadcast on the air at no charge. The station operates
24/7 and can be heard at 1630 on the AM dial.
Any local non-profit or non-commercial organization can have
their event information broadcast to the public on Sierra Madre
Community Information Radio. This new radio station covers the city
of Sierra Madre, plus surrounding areas of Pasadena, Arcadia, and
Monrovia.
In a nutshell, your event must:
• Benefit a non-commercial or non-profit entity
• Be open to the public
• Be of general interest to local citizens

write a Public Service Announcement that describes your
event and e-mail it to radio@cityofsierramadre.com.
During the week of Sunday, March 4th, to Saturday March 10th,
the Sierra Madre Police Department responded to approximately

Sunday, March 4th:
4:46 PM- Disorderly Conduct/Drunk in Public, 600 blk.
Chaparral. An intoxicated 56-year old man was asked to
leave a residence by the resident. The subject left the residence
and was arrested for public intoxication outside the residence.
The subject was transported to Pasadena jail for booking.
Monday, March 5th:
2:48 PM- Grand Theft Exceeding 950 Dollars, 600 blk.
Chaparral Rd. Unknown suspect(s) entered the location
through an open garage door and stole a 21 speed Trek 21
white and black mountain bicycle. The suspect(s) fled in an
unknown direction.
3:40 PM- DUI Alcohol/Drugs, Lima St. and Highland Ave.
An officer stopped a Sierra Madre motorist for a Vehicle Code
violation. Further investigation revealed that the 80-year old
driver was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was
transported to Pasadena Police Department Jail for booking.
Friday, March 9th:
12:19 PM- Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain
Credit/Etc. This incident involves the cashing of a personal
check, without the owner’s permission.
2:26 PM- Use of Another’s Personal Identification to Obtain
Credit/Etc. This incident involves the unauthorized use of the
victim’s credit card.
Saturday, March 10th:
2:59 PM- DUI Alcohol/Drugs, Sycamore Pl. and Grandview
Ave. An officer stopped a 44-year old Monrovia motorist for
a Vehicle Code violation. Further investigation revealed that
the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was
arrested and transported to Pasadena Police Department Jail
for booking.
10:43 AM- Suspicious Circumstances, 500 blk. Woodland Dr.
This case involves a piece of charred wood that was thrown
onto the concrete porch of a residence. The suspect(s) fled in
an unknown direction.
8:47 PM- Petty Theft, 100 blk. W, Sierra Madre Blvd. Unknown
suspects entered a liquor store and stole a 750 ml bottle of
Belvedere vodka and a 20 oz. bottle of Coca Cola. The store
clerk gave chase, which cause one of the suspect to drop
the bottle of vodka. The suspects thenfled in an unknown
direction.

WEDNESDAYS
The Sierra Madre Farmer’s Market new location is in
Downtown Sierra Madre on Hermosa Avenue, south of Sierra
Madre Boulevard to Mariposa Avenue. The hours will
be from 3:00-8:00 p.m. during the summer with the exception
of major holidays. During the winter/Pacific Standard
time the market could possibly end at 7:00 p.m.
