ST. RITA STUDENT ATHLETES DOMINATE AT HOST EVENT

Sierra Madre, CA – Strong athletic performances, and hard work by
the more than 50 volunteers who staffed it, made for an exciting day
last Sunday at the Raider Relays Track Meet held for the 13th year in
a row at Bishop Amat. Nineteen schools and more than 700 athletes
competed in the event which is hosted by St. Rita as a fundraiser for
their Athletic Dept.

St. Rita’s students showed up in full force with the Varsity Girls, B
Girls and B Boys all placing first in their respective divisions. The
Varsity Boys took second, the Novice Girls were third and the Novice
Boys were fourth at the Meet.

Every year the parents of St Rita athletes get together and man
the events, time the races, tally the points, post the results, work
admission and count the money for the 6-hour track meet. Bishop
Amat not only provides the location but supplies a good deal of
student labor to assist the St. Rita volunteer force, which this year
also included graduated athletes.

“It was an outstanding track meet,” said Coach Randy Davies. “Our
parent volunteers were beyond compare and our athletes competed
with pride and determination.”

St. Rita School, located at 322 N. Baldwin Ave. in Sierra Madre,
is a top-ranked Catholic parish school with an award-winning,
championship CYO sports program.
