THE REEL DEAL: by Ben Show

ALEXANDER AND THE TERRIBLE,
HORRIBLE, NO GOOD,

VERY BAD DAY REVIEW

With a title that long, this movie caught
my eye from the first trailer I saw.
However, that was about it. The film
looked cute and all, but aren’t all family
movies supposed to? What makes
this movie different than the rest?
Alexander (Ed Oxenbould) can
never have a good day. His family, on
the other hand, is the polar opposite.
His mother (Jennifer Garner) is
about to get promoted, his father
(Steve Carell) has a job interview for
a gaming company, his sister (Kerris
Dorsey) has the lead in the school play,
and his brother (Dylan Minnette) is
going to prom and getting his driver’s
license. However, on the biggest day of his family’s life, everything
seems to be going wrong, and it could all be Alexander’s fault.
This movie is just plain cute. Not in that overly-sappy, cheesy,
cliché family movie kind of way. ‘Alexander’ is much more heartfelt
than the trailers make it seem. There is some raunchy humor, but it
goes right over young children’s heads. This movie is a great way to
kick off the fall season with good family fun
