Promise support 
program.

Rotary-sponsored 
community service 
club for young 
people ages 13-18. 
The club meets on 
Monday evenings at 
7:15PM, across the 
hall from the choir room in the United Methodist Church at the corner of Sierra Madre Blvd 
and Michillinda Ave.

1630 AM EMERGENCY RADIO & 

Free on-air publicity for local events

 Sierra Madre’s EMERGENCY radio station is now accepting scripts 
for Public Service Announcements (PSAs) about community events. 
PSAs will be broadcast on the air at no charge. The station operates 
24/7 and can be heard at 1630 on the AM dial.

 Any local non-profit or non-commercial organization can have 
their event information broadcast to the public on Sierra Madre 
Community Information Radio. The station covers the city of Sierra 
Madre, plus surrounding areas of Pasadena, Arcadia, and Monrovia. 

Your event must:

• Benefit a non-commercial or non-profit entity
• Be open to the public
• Be of general interest to local citizens


Just 
write a Public Service Announcement that describes your event 
and e-mail it to radio@cityofsierramadre.com.

City Council

Special Council Meeting

NOVEMBER 18, 2014 - 6:30 pm

The final agenda and staff reports will available online no later 
than Friday night. Enter the date “09/30/2014” for the complete 
agenda packet.

Can’t make it to the meeting, but still want to share your 
thoughts? You can mail or drop off a written statement to City 
Hall or email city@cityofsierramadre.com before 5:30 the night 
of the meeting and your statement will be delivered to all the 
Council Members.

Upcoming Public Meetings

Agendas and staff reports will be posted online 72 hours before 
the meeting. Unless otherwise noted, all meetings will take 
place in the City Council Chambers, 232 W. Sierra Madre Blvd.

WATERWORKS COMMUNITY 
ADVISORY BOARD

 Applications now being accepted for the Sierra Madre Waterworks 
Community Advisory Board. The Community Advisory Board (CAB) 
was created to provide residents and the community an opportunity 
to be a part of the planning process for aquatic services at the Sierra 
Madre Aquatic Center. The CAB consists of seven distinct positions 
representing: swim lessons, swim team, lap swimming/water aerobics, 
recreation swim/social user, a Waterworks Aquatics staff, Community 
Services Department staff and Community Services Commission 
liaison. Each of the community positions serve one year terms and are 
appointed by the a selection committee consisting of the Waterworks 
Aquatics staff, Community Services Department staff and Community 
Services Commission liaison. The CAB meets on a once a month basis 
throughout the year. Upon completion of the one year term, members 
of the CAB can reapply for appointment. Applications can be turned 
in to Sierra Madre Aquatic Center, located in Sierra Vista Park at 611 
E. Sierra Madre Blvd., Sierra Madre, CA 91024.

FAREWELL TO SIERRA MADRE 
ICON NEIL THE PIG TO BE HELD 
ON NOVEMBER 23RD

Sierra Madre Icon, Neil “The Pig” Emerson, passed away 
on November 8th after exceeding the life expectancy for a 
Vietnamese Pot Belly pig by at least five years. Dr. Kathleen 
Emerson, Neil’s sister has announced that an informal Memorial 
Celebration of his life will be held on the grounds of his home, 
382 W. Montecito on Sunday, November 23, 2014 from 1:30 - 
3:00. The public is invited.

Neil, who made national news last year when an ill fated attempt 
was made by the Pasadena Humane Society to ‘evict’ him, has 
been one of Sierra Madre’s Treasures for almost two decades. 

He is preceded in death by his mom, Diane Emerson.
