Madre.

agenda is a public hearing on “Discretionary Demolition Permits” and a report from the
closed session conference on negotiations regarding 186 W. Highland.

future needs of the older adult community.

The next Town Hall meeting is on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at

NAME THAT FLOAT! 2016 SIERRA MADRE ROSE FLOAT
DESIGN CHOSEN

The Sierra Madre Rose Float Association announced
this week that they had selected the design fo the 2016
Rose Parade entry. However, it does not have a name,
yet.

The design, left, created by Richard Burrows has been
approved by the TOR. It also conincides with the
overall tournament theme, “Find Your Adventure”.

According to the Tournament of Roses, “Find Your
Adventure is a theme that has grown out of a unique
partnership between the Pasadena Tournament of
Roses and the U.S. National Park Service. The 2016
Rose Parade will help shine light on the centennial
celebration of our nation’s national parks.”

If you have a suggestion for a name, please post your
entry of their Facebook page. (https://www.facebook.
com/groups/29356432318)lso,

The Association just finished celebrating their 9th
victory in the last 10 years for the float “I Think I Can” ,
the little train that could and did.

Earlier this year, the 2015 entry was asked to make
it’s final resting place in Arizona at a facility that helps
children. The train left Sierra Madre in January to
bring a little joy to children in need.

Don’t let these ‘wild’ and ‘crazy’ Flamingo’s remain
nameless. Put your thining cap on! Who knows, your
entry may be the name for the 10th winning entry in 11
years for SMRFA!

WISTARIA FESTIVAL SHUTTLE TICKETS
STILL AVAILABLE!

Shuttle tickets to ride up to view the Wistaria Vine at the annual Wistaria Festival
are still available for purchase! The 2015Wistaria Festival will take place next
Sunday, March 15th, 2015.

The Festival features tours of the world’s largest blossoming plant, certified by
the Guinness Book of World Records. Each year, the property owners upon
whose land the vine sits open their homes to allow thousands to view the vine.
Dozens of Sierra Madre residents volunteer to act as docents at the property,
telling the story of the vine, which was originally planted from a 1-gallon pot
that was purchased for $0.75 in 1894. In addition to the tours of the vine, the
two main downtown streets of Sierra Madre are closed to traffic so that crafters
and artists can set up booths to display and sell their wares. This year we have
added a free Vintage Car Show to the festivities. Downtown village shops are
open, and musical acts perform at multiple outdoor venues. Memorial Park
is transformed into a combination Kids/Food zone and a hub of information
about local non profits.

The shuttle to the vine from downtown avoids a long uphill walk from
downtown to the neighborhood in which the vine sits. Tickets for the shuttle
are $15 for adults. Seniors (over 65) and children (6 to 16) receive a discounted
rate of $7. Children under five ride for free. Families of 6 or more can ride the
shuttle of $30. (No more than 2 adults).

You can purchase tickets on the chambers website, www.sierramadrechamber.
com or by stopping by Savor The Flavor, Beantown or The Bottle Shop.

Additional information on the festival can be found on page 4 of this paper.
