The City of Arcadia was represented by 57 participants in the SouthernCalifornia Municipal Athletic Federation (SCMAF) Championship TrackMeet at Warren High School in Downey on Sunday, June 7, 2015. These 
athletes competed against several other regions across California. Overall, 
athletes representing Arcadia finished as follows:

Date and Time of Release: Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 2:05 AMOn July 01, 2015, at approximately 11:55 PM, the Arcadia PoliceDepartment received a call of gunshots heard in the 600 block ofSharon Rd. Officers responded and discovered multiple rounds hadbeen discharged into a residence.

No injuries were reported as a result of the gunshots.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted by Arcadia PoliceDepartment Officers and Detectives. Anyone with information isasked to call the Arcadia Police Department at (626) 574-5150. For the period of Sunday, June 21st, through Saturday, June 27th, thePolice Department responded to 1,050 calls for service of which 115required formal investigations. The following is a summary report ofthe major incidents handled by the Department during this period. 

Sunday, June 21:
Just before 10:22 a.m., officers responded to Arcadia Methodist 
Hospital, 300 West Huntington Drive, regarding a male subjectmaking criminal threats toward hospital staff. The 43-year-old malefrom Philadelphia, Pennsylvania became combative when officerstried to escort him from the hospital. The suspect was arrested forBattery on a Peace Officer and was transported to the Arcadia CityJail for booking.

At approximately 8:34 p.m., an officer responded to the WestfieldShopping Town, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding a stolenvehicle report. Sometime between 11:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., thevictim’s Acura Integra was stolen from the parking lot near TheCheesecake Factory. No suspects were seen and no witnesses werelocated. 

Monday, June 22:
At about 12:44 a.m., officers responded to Genda Jewelry, 629 West
Duarte Road, regarding an alarm activation. An investigation
revealed unknown suspect(s) used a round projectile to break the
glass front door. No suspects were seen and no witnesses were located.
The suspects did not enter the business and no loss was reported.


At approximately 6:21 a.m., an officer responded to ArcadiaHigh School, 180 Campus Drive, regarding a commercial burglaryreport. Surveillance footage revealed two unknown males forcedopen the school’s vending machines and stole cash and coins. Theinvestigation is ongoing. 

Tuesday, June 23:
Around 12:09 a.m., an officer responded to the Arcadia County Park,
405 South Santa Anita Avenue, regarding a solo traffic collision.
Upon contacting the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of
alcohol emitting from her person. Through a series of tests, the
officer concluded the 38-year-old female from Houston, Texas was
under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. She was arrested and
transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.


Just after 2:00 p.m., an officer responded to a residence in the400 block of Fairview Avenue regarding a burglary report. Aninvestigation revealed an unknown suspect entered the residencethrough a large, open window and stole the victim’s handgun. Theinvestigation is ongoing. 

Wednesday, June 24:
Shortly after 8:20 a.m., an officer responded to Embassy Suites, 211East Huntington Drive, regarding a grand theft report. Surveillancefootage revealed an unknown male picked up the victim’s backpackfrom the café area and exited the hotel through the main entrance. 

The investigation is ongoing.

At about 12:45 p.m., an officer responded to the 300 block of WestNorman Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary report. Surveillancefootage revealed three Hispanic males stole the victim’s lawn mowerfrom his vehicle and loaded it into their white, Ford truck. The 
investigation is ongoing. 

Thursday, June 25:
At approximately 7:43 a.m., an officer responded to a residence inthe 000 block of West Palm Drive regarding a burglary report. Theofficer discovered unknown suspect(s) entered the residence while itwas being tented for termites, and unknown property was taken. Nosuspects were seen and no witnesses were located.

Around 6:45 p.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle inthe area of Huntington Drive and Santa Clara Street after a DMVcheck revealed the vehicle was stolen out of the City of Ventura.
Upon contacting the driver, the officer discovered the 46-year-oldfemale from San Gabriel was in possession of stolen property froma vehicle burglary committed in Alhambra, and the passenger, a46-year-old male from South El Monte, provided a false name andhad an outstanding felony warrant. Both suspects were arrested andtransported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking. 

Friday, June 26:
At about 12:08 a.m., an officer initiated contact with a subject whowas stumbling in the parking lot of the Station Bar, 1218 SouthBaldwin Avenue. The officer determined the 23-year-old male fromRosemead was unable to care for himself. He was arrested and 
transported to the Arcadia City Jail for booking.

Just after 6:51 p.m., an officer responded to the 000 block of WestDuarte Road regarding a hit and run collision with injuries. An 
investigation revealed an estranged husband and wife were arguingwhen the husband stood behind their car in an effort to prevent herfrom leaving. The wife reversed, hit her husband, a planter, and abusiness sign before fleeing the scene. The victim refused medicalattention. The 59-year-old female from Rosemead is outstanding atthe time of this report. 

Saturday, June 27:
Just after 12:33 a.m., an officer conducted a DMV check on a vehicle 
in the area of Camino Real Avenue and Tenth Avenue. The check 
revealed the vehicle had expired registration however displayed acurrent 2015 sticker. The driver admitted to placing the fraudulenttag on his vehicle. The 44-year-old male from Fullerton was cited andreleased in the field. 

At approximately 10:46 a.m., an officer responded to Macy’s at theWestfield Shopping Town, 400 South Baldwin Avenue, regarding apetty theft report. Surveillance footage revealed the 46-year-old malefrom Cathedral City concealed numerous items of merchandise inshopping bags before exiting the store and failing to make payment.
He was cited and released in the field due to medical concerns.

ARCADIA, CA (June 29, 2015) – A record-breaking crowd of 157individuals attended the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce‘s mixer/
ribbon cutting for the Arcadia Elks Lodge 2025 on Thursday, June

23. A good time was had by all. And good business too – A handfulof first-timers at the Lodge signed up to be members of the civicgroup.Arcadia Chamber CEO Scott Hettrick, who served as Masterof Ceremonies for the evening, noted that the Arcadia Elks wereformed in 1957 by former Arcadia Mayor Jim Helms, a lawyer whowas also recently presented a Business Icon tribute. Scott introducedan emotional Helms, who received loud applause. Many attendeeswere setting foot in the spacious lodge for the first time.
Current Exalted Ruler of the Elks, Robert DiGioia, said the Elks 
is a national organization serving our nation’s Veterans, youth andthe local community. The local Elks Lodge puts on a number of bigevents each year including serving 600 meals to our veterans andproviding them with gifts during the Christmas holiday. They alsosupport scouting and are greatly involved in drug awareness.
Scott also noted that the Elks national organization is nearly 150years old and is responsible for getting Congress to declare June 14an annual Flag Day.

The ribbon cutting portion of the event featured the presentationof a certificate from Mayor Pro Tem Roger Chandler on behalf ofthe City of Arcadia. Councilman Chandler thanked Jim for allof his hard work over the years in founding the Elks Lodge andcongratulated all members of the Elks for all that they do for ourcommunity. Arcadia Chamber of Commerce President AndrewGregson of The Executive Factor presented a plaque for beingactive in the community for decades and being a member of the
