PARENT SEMINAR 

ON SPECIAL 
EDUCATION IS DEC. 2

Pasadena, CA --- The Pasadena Unified School 
District’s (PUSD) Parent University invites families 
to a free seminar for families called “Special 
Education 101: Navigating the Special Education 
System” Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, at 5:30 p.m. at 
the McKinley School Library, located at 225 S. Oak 
Knoll Ave., Pasadena.

All families are welcome to learn how they can 
partner with schools to support their children’s 
success whether their child has a disability or shares 
a classroom with children who do. Parents will 
learn how the diversity of children in classrooms 
enriches the everyday learning experiences of 
the children, families, teachers and staff of PUSD 
schools.

Dec. 2 is National Special Education Day and 
marks the anniversary of the signing of the federal 
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act 
(IDEA), which was signed into law by President 
Gerald Ford in 1975.

Spanish translation and child care for school-age 
children will be available

PUSD’s Parent University builds families’ access 
to knowledge about what children are learning; 
the workings of the school system; how to provide 
educational support to their children; and how 
to partner with teachers and schools to advocate 
for their children’s educational needs. For more
