Pasadena, CA – Bowdien “Bubba” Derby, who is a 2012 graduate ofLa Salle High School in Pasadena, had his baseball jersey and numberretired during a ceremony at the baseball diamond at Arcadia CountyPark, the Lancers’ home field. 

Derby’s high school career began by being called up to varsityas a freshman then helping win La Salle’s first ever Del Rey Leaguechampionship. He then capped his career by pitching threeoutstanding playoff games in the tough CIF Division III bracketincluding two no hitters against Bishop Montgomery and St. Paul,
two great hitting teams.

His stellar baseball career continued at San Diego Stateafter Derby was personally recruited to pitch for the Aztecsby the late baseball great and head coach Tony Gwinn. 

Derby started his Aztec career by striking out college greatKris Bryant (now with the Chicago Cubs) with the bases loaded,
and then ended his collegiate career going head-to-head withDillon Tate (first round draft pick for The Texas Rangers) in thefirst game of the NCAA Baseball Regionals. The Aztecs wonthree conference championships in a row riding on Derby’s arm.

In June 2015, Bubba was drafted in the 6th round of the MLB 
Draft to play professionally for the Oakland Athletics. Darby wasrecently traded to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Former Lancer Baseball Head Coach, Harry Agajanian, said,

Megan originally hails from Bethesda, Maryland. As a graduate 
of Georgetown Visitation in Washington, D.C., she has first-hand 
knowledge and great respect for the benefits of educating young 
women in an all-girls school setting. She is thrilled to be able to 
take on her new role as Director of College Guidance at Alverno 
High School. Megan has a bachelor’s degree in Human Services 
from Elon University and master of education degree from The 
Catholic University of America in School Counseling. 

Most recently, Megan served as the Director of College 
Counseling at Oldfiels School, an all-girls private boarding school 
in Glencoe, Maryland. Prior to that, she worked as the Assistant 
Director of College Counseling at Sandy Spring Friends School in 
Sandy Springs, Maryland. 

When not working, Megan enjoys spending time with family

Burbank Elementary School andgraduated from John Muir High 
School. 

She received a Bachelor of 
Arts degree with a double majorin Psychology and Teacher 
Education from the University ofCalifornia, San Diego; a teachingcredential from San Diego State
