PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
From: The City of Sierra MadreSubject: MUNICIPAL CODE TEXT AMENDMENT 17-04 (MCTA 17-04)
Applicant: City of Sierra MadreProject Location: Properties in the City of Sierra Madre, County of Los Angeles, State of California
The City of Sierra Madre gives notice, pursuant to State of California law, that the Planning Commission will conduct a
public hearing to consider recommending adoption to the City Council of an ordinance amending Chapter 17.28 R-3 Zone
(Multiple-Family Residential), Chapter 17.20 R-1 Zone (One Family Residential), Chapter 17.30 RC Zone (Residential Canyon),
Chapter 17.60 Variances and Conditional Use Permits, and Chapter 17.72 Signs. The purpose of the amendments is to revise
the development standards of the R-3 Zone Ordinance which necessitates various amendments to the other abovementioned
ordinances for consistency of zoning requirements across ordinances. The Planning Commission will also consider deleting
Chapter 17.76 Condominium and Apartment Projects as the requirements for these types of development are duplicative of
those provided in the R-3 Zone Ordinance. Following a Planning Commission recommendation for approval, the proposed text
amendment will be forwarded to the City Council for consideration.

review pursuant to Title 14, Section 15061(b)(3) of the California Code of Regulations as it can be seen with certainty that there
is no possibility the adoption of this Ordinance may have a significant effect on the environment, because it will impose greater
limitations on development in the City thereby serving to reduce potential significant adverse environmental impacts.

RENT CONTROL IN SIERRA MADRE

Dear Editor: (And Residents of Sierra Madre)

The Sierra Madre City Council will be discussing rent control sometime in June or July.

If you have issues regarding your increased rent or worried about the future be sure and contact the citycouncil thru email at the city’s web site or go to the council meetings and speak out there.

The rent prices in California are out of control and just keep rising.Reasons being shortage of housing,
job growth and inflation but the main reason is simple greed. If the owner can get more then why not.Theapartment or house next door is getting more for rent so why not me? And up the rent goes higher and
higher with no end in sight.

Pasadena rents are at a all time high and some rents are increasing by as much as 47%.Some cities inCalifornia have some version of rent control and more must be done.Let it happen here also in SierraMadre particularly for those on fixed or low incomes.T

he alternatives are homelessness or having to move away from families and friends. Please speak out aboutthis important issue before your rent goes up again, much higher then you can possibly afford!

JB, Sierra Madre
