NATIONAL NIGHT OUT,
TUESDAY, AUGUST 1, 2017!!!

National Night Out is
an annual community-
building campaign
that promotes police-
community partnerships
and neighborhood
camaraderie to make
our neighborhoods safer,
more caring places to
live. National Night Out

enhances the relationship
between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true
sense of community.

Unlike previous years when the SMPD hosted this event in
Memorial Park, we’ve found that other cities have been able to reach
out to their communities more effectively by going to Neighborhood
Watch (NW) block parties or individual parties throughout their
cities. It is our intention this year to visit the NW block parties or
individual parties. As we schedule the Department’s events for
the evening, we need to know who will be participating. If you are
scheduling a block party, let us know and we’ll coordinate with the
city in providing barricades if necessary.

We will have representatives from the department stop by to
say hello, no presentations, just pass out a few goodies and answer
questions if you like. I’ve listed a few points to remember when you
respond.
