ASSOCIATION SEEKS 
APPLICATIONS FOR PRINCESSES/
AMBASSADORS 
The Sierra Madre Rose Float Association is once again seeking 
applications for the position of Princess/Ambassador (in any 
combination of female/male) to represent the City at local functions 
and activities and to ride on our float on New Year’s Day in the Rose 
Parade® presented by Honda! 
This year we are searching for four (4) Princesses/Ambassadors who 
will not only have the honor of riding on the Sierra Madre float, but 
will have the pleasure of speaking to the Sierra Madre City Council and 
local service organizations and clubs. In addition, they will assist with 
float decorating and contribute to publicity opportunities. Princesses/
Ambassadors will have a very exciting and educational year! All 
applicants must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and will be 
required to show your vaccination card or mobile vaccination record 
in order to enter our judging. We will follow Covid-19 guidelines 
throughout our float season. 
Application Guidelines and Process:
1) Applicants must be 15 to 18 years old, have a 3.0 grade average,
and be a resident of Sierra Madre. Princesses and Ambassadors must 
be available to participate in the speaking engagements and duringour Deco Week (December 26 – 31).
2) All applicants must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 (includinga 2-week period following your final shot) and will be required toshow your vaccination card or mobile vaccination record in order toenter our judging.
3) Applications may be picked up at City Hall, the SMRFA barn onSundays, or downloaded from the Sierra Madre Rose Float Association 
website: www.sierramadrerosefloat.org4) Applications must be received at the SMRFA post office box,
OR placed in an envelope and put under the door of the Float BarnOR emailed to info2021@sierramadrerosefloat.org by Friday, October8, 2021. Applications submitted later than October 8th will not be

in-person (not virtual) trail racing 
to Sierra Madre on Saturday,
October 16, 2021, beginning 
promptly at 7:00 a.m. in KerstingCourt. This is a new race start time 
for the MWTR this year Race day 
packet pick-up begins at 6:00 a.m. 
in Kersting Court. The MWTR 
course is 8.6 miles in length, starting 
at Kersting Court, up Baldwin Ave., 
to Mira Monte Ave., to Orchard 
Camp and back. The total elevation 
gain is over 2,160 feet. First run 
in 1908, the annual Mt. Wilson 
Trail Race is the one of the oldest 
trail races in California. Usuallyheld on the last weekend in May, 
potential COVID-19 restrictions 
necessitated this change for the 
2021 MWTR for this year only. 
Although limited to 300 runners, 
registration for the 2021 Mt. 
Wilson Trail Race is still open and 
costs $70 for Adults (ages 18 and 
above) and $39 for Youth (ages 14 
– 17). All paid entries receive at-shirt and goodie bag. To register, 
establish an account with the

sierramadre. As the MWTR usually 
sells out, race day registration is 
generally not available. 
All runners are strongly encouraged 
to bring their own water supply for

along the course to provide 
aid as necessary. Sierra 
Madre Cub Scouts Troop110 will hand out water to 
the runners at First Water 
(2.3 miles) and Sierra Madre 
Boy Scouts Troop 110 will 
hand out water at Orchard 
Camp (4.3 miles), the turn-
around point. 
Immediately following the 
start of the 2021 MWTR, 
the MWTR Kids’ Fun Run (Ages 3 
– 13) will begin in Kersting Courtat 7:15 a.m. The start of the Kids’ 
Fun Run is staggered, with children 
ages 8 – 13 beginning first and then 
followed by children ages 3 – 7. 
Registration for the MWTR Kids’ 
Fun Run is FREE and can be done 
on the morning of the MWTR. 
All children participating receive 
a t-shirt and finisher’s ribbon. 
Kids’ Fun Run participants run upBaldwin Ave. and back to KerstingCourt. The total distances are 1.0 
mile for ages 8 – 13 and .6 miles for

accompany the younger children 
during the Kids’ Fun Run.

Stone Fire Grill pasta dinner in 
Kersting Court on Friday, October

6:30 p.m. The dinner is sponsored 
by the Sierra Madre Civic Club and 
costs $8.00 per person. Proceeds 
from the event are donated to the 
Sierra Madre Search and Rescue
