Fun and shopping were the themes for the day which also included Santa coming to town and the lighting of the Christmas Tree, a gift to the Chamber from the Sierra Madre Community Foundation. The day had a very special meaning...not only was it Veteran's Day it was also named Ken An- halt Day by Mayor Gene Goss. Unfortunately, as is often the case when one reaches the wonderful age of 99, scheduling conflicts can arise. For Ken, alast minute appointment kept him from receiving the honor on his special day. However, earlier this week, he received his official Proclamation at his home. Pictured below are l to r, Mayor Goss, Kiwanis President Judy Webb- Martin, Kiwanis Lt. Governor Rebecca Harris and Kiwanis member MaryLou Caldwell. In the bottom photo Ken recieves his Proclamation from Mrs. Caldwell at his home. Ken has been the recipient of numerous honors in Sierra Madre in addition to his val- iant military service. He be- longs to the Sierra Madre Ki- wanis Club, VFW 3208 and in 2010 was chosen as the Si- erra Madre Older American (partial listing) If you want to learn more about Mr. Anhalt go to: https://mtnviewsnews.com/ v07/htm/n33/p01.htm .
