CHOIR CAMP FOR PASADENA-AREA STUDENTS, JUNE 22-26, 2026

(Pasadena, Calif.) May 29, 2026 – The Pasadena Chorale is pleased to announce the return of SummerSing, its free week-long summer choir camp for students en-tering grades 7–12. Taking placeJune 22–26, 2026, at San Marino Community Church, SummerSing offers young singers an engaging and enriching opportunity to develop their musical skills in a fun, welcoming environment atno cost to fami-lies.
Led by Pasadena Chorale Artistic & Executive Director Jeffrey Bernstein, Sum-merSing provides students with daily instruction in ensemble singing, vocal tech-nique, music theory, and movement.
Bernstein, who holds degrees from Harvard, Yale, and UCLA, has more than 30 years of experience as a choral music educator.
“Singing together nourishes body, mind, and spirit,” said Bernstein. “The cognitive benefits of music education are many, and importantly, learning music with oth-ers is fun! During our weektogether we’ll be building and practicing skills that last a lifetime.”
SummerSing meets Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 2:30pm at San Ma-rino Community Church, located at 1750 Virginia Rd, San Marino, CA 91108. Snacks and lunch are provided for
all participating students each day.
The program is open to students who enjoy singing in their school choir, regardless of prior musical training or financial circumstances. Pasadena Chorale created SummerSing as part of its ongoingcommitment to providing accessible, high-quality music education opportunities for local youth.
SummerSing is made possible through grants provided by the Los Angeles County Department of Arts & Culture, Pasadena Community Foundation, Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts, andPasadena Tournament of Roses. Their generous support helps ensure that students throughout the Pasadena area can participate in the week-long choir camp free of charge.
Enrollment is now open, and space is limited. Interested families should com-plete the online enrollment form on Pasadena Chorale’s website by June 15: pasadenachorale.org/summersing.

ABOUT THE PASADENA CHORALE
Founded in 2009, The Pasadena Chorale is a community chorus organization whose mission is to educate, uplift, and inspire as many people as possible through choral music. The organizationincludes The Pasadena Chorale and the Pasadena Choral Society (auditioned community choirs), the High Notes (a choir of young people in grades 6-11), and a small ensemble of 16 voices specializingin Renaissance music and chamber repertoire. The Chorale’s signature education program, Listening to the Future, champions the work of high school composers, offering them instruction witha professional composer who guides them in the creation of new choral music, and a performance and recording of their work. In the ten years since Listening to the Future began, the Chorale haspremiered 71 new works by 29 Pasadena area high school students. Across the organization, 175 singers rehearse weekly, singing annually for a live audience of a few thou-sand, and with an onlineaudience of hundreds of thousands. The Chorale offers all its concert and educational programming to the public at no cost.
In 2024, the Pasadena Chorale won the prestigious American Prize in Choral Per-formance. In 2025, in response to the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, the Cho-rale appeared on Good MorningAmerica and performed with Katy Perry at the FireAid Benefit Concert, which provided relief and support for LA’s affected resi-dents and communities. Over the years the Pasadena Chorale hascollaborated with many local arts organizations including the Pasadena Symphony and POPS, the Pasadena Playhouse, Pasadena Dance Theatre, Clazzical Notes, MUSE/IQUE, the Los AngelesDaiku, the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. The Chorale is committed to programming new music and champi-oning music by composers from historicallymarginalized groups.
