Pasadena Pops Announce2026 Summer Concert Series

 Whether you’re a renter,
a landlord, or just curiousabout how housing 
protections work in 
Pasadena, the City’s Rent 
Stabilization Department(RSD) is hosting a freeworkshop to walk youthrough the basics. TheJune workshop will providean overview of Pasadena’s 
Rent Stabilization 
Ordinance, established byCharter Article XVIII, and 
what it means for renters 
and landlords in the city.

 The workshop will take 
place on Tuesday at 6 PMat the Los Robles Building,
located at 199 S. Los Robles 
Ave., Conference Room 1 
FL. Participants may attendin person or virtually viaZoom by visiting Bit.ly/

The session will cover: 

-What is Rent Stabilization? 
An overview of Charter 
Article XVIII, which was 
established by Pasadena 
voters in December 2022 
and created the city’s rentstabilization and just-causeeviction protections. 
-Annual General 
Adjustment (AGA): Howannual rent increases are 
set, what the current rate 
is, and what landlords 
are required to do beforeraising rent. 
-Just Cause Evictions: 
The legally valid reasons alandlord may end a tenancy,
and the protectionstenants have against unjustevictions. 
-Relocation Assistance: 
What no-fault evictions 
trigger relocation 
assistance requirementsand how those paymentsare determined. 
-Petitions and Hearings:
How tenants and landlords 
can formally petition thePasadena Rental HousingBoard when disputes arise. 
-Rental Registration: 
What the registration 
requirement means for 
property owners and thecurrent state of compliancein Pasadena. 
-This workshop is ideal foranyone who wants to betterunderstand Pasadena’s rent 
stabilization framework 
and how it affects renters 
and property owners 
across the city. RSD staffwill be available followingthe presentation to answerquestions and connect 
attendees with resources.

 The Pasadena Police 
Department recognizes the 
retirement of K-9 Edo after more 
than seven years of dedicated 
service and welcomes its newest 
K-9 team member, Seeka, whois currently training to continuethe department’s mission of 
protecting and serving the 
Pasadena community.

 K-9 Edo officially retired onMay 4, 2026. Paired with OfficerDaniel Velasquez in March 2019,
Edo began his law enforcementcareer after transitioning from amilitary assignment with ArmySpecial Forces. Recognizing his 
potential as a police service dog,
the Pasadena Police Departmentselected Edo, beginning a 
remarkable partnership that 
would leave a lasting impact 
on the department and the 
community.
Throughout his career, Edo 
demonstrated exceptional skill,
loyalty, and dedication. His 
accomplishments include:

 The annual Pasadena Senior 
Games Cycling races will beheld on Wednesday, June 17,2026 at Long Beach’s beautifulEl Dorado Park. Pasadena 
Senior Games is part of anationwide program of multi-
sport Olympic-style athleticevents for adults 50+.

 Pasadena Senior Games 
Cycling events include a 10KTime Trial and 20K Road 
Race. Cycling Road Race 
events for older adults are rare 
across the country. CyclingRoad Race events for older 
adults are rare across the 
country. The garden setting ofEl Dorado Park, and the safetyaspects of this closed courseaway from street traffic, makesthis a favorite competition forolder cyclists.

 The timing and officiating forSenior Games Cycling will beprovided by SoCal Cyclocross,
headed by Dorothy Wong.
Cost to register is $45 athletefee plus $20 per event. 
Online registration is openthrough June 13 and race dayregistration will be available.

Lunch at the Library Returns

This summer Pasadena Public Library will take part in Lunch atthe Library for their sixth year. Lunch at the Library, a project of theCalifornia State Library, provides free, healthy meals for children,
18 and younger and is supported by funding from the State ofCalifornia.

 Two library sites: Jefferson Branch Library, 1500 E. Villa Street andVilla Parke Branch Library, 363 E. Villa Street, Second Floor willprovide food and activities for children, Monday through Friday,
June 8 to August 14 (except July 3), from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

 To address food insecurity over the summer monthswhile promoting literacy, Pasadena Public Library will alsoprovide children and teens with books to add to their homelibraries at various Green logo with an open book icon containinga fork and spoon on the right side, next to the words “Lunch atthe Library” in green text.locations throughout the city where freelunch programs are offered. By pairing reading and libraries withfood access, we can provide the youth of our community with twomajor ingredients they need to succeed in school and beyond – 
healthy food and literacy.
